What owners report
Have had issues from day one. Lane centering hugs middle line, back up camera is black at times, when in drive screen is blank, all tools on steering have went out including turn signals, cruse control, collision avoidance flashes when no one is in front of me, brakes due to collision avoidance malfunction etc. in November 2021 car was in park ( know that for sure it was in park and not moving as fed ex came for delivery and walked around back of car to get package before accident) and rolled to front pinning me and breaking pelvis and back. During this incident the safety failed in park, anti collie on failed, 9 days in hospital and months of rehab. Again coming back from doctor lost steering controls. …
Forward collision warning stopped working which in turn caused the cruise control to not work. Then the PSCM (power steering control module) just went out all at once. Was driving and it showed warning on the dash. I drove on and parked. When I went to start back, it started fine but couldn't move steering wheel. I'm seeing this has been a problem with other owners and the same year model. Ford has done a recall on edge for years around 2020 but not that particular year. Gonna cost $2772.59 to fix at dealership. Always owned ford but very disappointed how this happened with very little warning at all. If it had locked up while I was driving it would have been a major accident.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving on a two-lane street at 50 MPH, the vehicle was struggling to shift into gear while accelerating. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact drove the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed with a faulty torque converter. The torque converter was replaced; however, several days later while driving 50 MPH, the contact lost control of the steering and heard an abnormal sound of wind inside the vehicle, and the steering wheel became loosened while accelerating. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact was able to coast to a parking lot and parked the vehicle. The contact called her husband, who arrived on the scene to drive the vehicle. The local dealer was contacted, and a service manager inspected the vehicle at the residence. …
while driving at slow and or highway speed limit, while turning to the rightor left, the steering wheel avts as if being hung up?catching onto something. it takes a little harder pull to release it out of the turn causing the vehicle at highway speeds to almost be uncontrollable. This in turn causes myself and others to be put in danger. While searching the internet for possible matches to my situation, I was able to find using AI that multiple other owners/drivers had similiar issues. The fix is either a sensor replacement, gear box replacement, software update or all three with costs ranging from 500-2500 in repairs. No warning lamps/messages/or other symptons have occcurred prior to the incidents. They began appearing a few days ago. It has not been inspected as of yet. I am making an appointment for next week and will further update.

The contact stated that the "Steering Fault - Service Required" and the "Service Advancetrac" warning lights were illuminated. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle however, the power steering functionality was not regained. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The contact owns a 2018 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed and making a right turn, the vehicle lost motive power and the steering wheel locked. The traction control warning light was illuminated, and the message "No Hill Start Assist" was displayed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the rack and pinion system had failed and needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the rack and pinion was previously replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. No further information was provided. The manufacturer was not made of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 116,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated when he started the vehicle, he noticed that the steering warning light had illuminated. The contact stated that he was able to steer the vehicle, but the steering wheel was traveling more than normal before a turn to the left or to the right was completed. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the steering gears and steering wheel needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The contact was advised by the dealer that there was a recall for older model vehicles for the loss of power steering; however, the VIN was not included. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V250000 (Steering). The failure mileage was approximately 59,000.
Power Steering System went out while driving. A warning light for the Advanced Traction System came on shortly before the Power Steering went out. This caused me to hit a curb creating a tire blowout. I got both problems fixed and the mechanic stated the issue with the power steering was that a wire for the system was resting on the catalytic converter, which caused the wire to melt and create the power steering failure. The mechanic replaced the wiring and replaced the mounting for the wiring to prevent it from resting on the exhaust system. The defect was only inspected by the mechanic that repaired the vehicle. No insurance or police since I was lucky enough to make it home.
