The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated when he started the vehicle, he noticed that the steering warning light had illuminated. The contact stated that he was able to steer the vehicle, but the steering wheel was traveling more than normal before a turn to the left or to the right was completed. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the steering gears and steering wheel needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The contact was advised by the dealer that there was a recall for older model vehicles for the loss of power steering; however, the VIN was not included. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V250000 (Steering). The failure mileage was approximately 59,000.
Power Steering System went out while driving. A warning light for the Advanced Traction System came on shortly before the Power Steering went out. This caused me to hit a curb creating a tire blowout. I got both problems fixed and the mechanic stated the issue with the power steering was that a wire for the system was resting on the catalytic converter, which caused the wire to melt and create the power steering failure. The mechanic replaced the wiring and replaced the mounting for the wiring to prevent it from resting on the exhaust system. The defect was only inspected by the mechanic that repaired the vehicle. No insurance or police since I was lucky enough to make it home.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated that a warning light indicating that there was a steering failure had been illuminated on the instrument panel. When turning the steering wheel it failed to automatically re-center. The contact would have to use manual strength to re-center the steering wheel. The vehicle was taken to the who diagnosed that the steering module failed and the steering column needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired due to the part being on backorder. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The manufacturer had referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to file a safety complaint. The failure mileage was 100,200.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, the steering wheel stopped operating as needed and was pulling to the right. The vehicle was steered to the side of the road and turned off. The vehicle was restarted and driven to the residence. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 81,103.
I was backing up into a driveway (very slight incline) when my power steering went out. Lights came on stating, "Steering assist fault, service required" and "service advanced trac." I could barely turn my wheel. There was no earlier warning of this issue and I had just driven 3 hours on the highway so was fortunate that it didn't fail while on the road. I tried restarting my car a few times and then I called a Ford dealer. The car was towed in for a diagnostic. This revealed that the EPAS rack failed and needed to be replaced with an estimate of over $3000. The purpose of EPAS is to enhance the steering ability for the driver, but the car is not steerable without its proper functioning which is a huge safety hazard to the driver and anyone else near them on the road.
- My electronic power steering failed. - My steering wheel would lock and not allow the car to turn. - It has been confirmed by an independent service center. They are having to replace the computer module steering service and steering rack and pinion. - No, it has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police or insurance. - The 2 times that the steering wheel would lock up, there would be a warning light for "service AdvanceTrac". This happened twice where the steering wheel would not move while driving, both within 3 days.
Putting the car in drive and would drive a few feet suddenly, all the panel lights ( check engine, abs, hazard control, electric parking brake,) literally every light on the panel would turn on and engine would stall causing the steering to become hard to control. This happened 3 times within a 2 week span then, I brought it into dealership and was told my coolant had leaked into my cylinders causing the engine to become ruined and that's why I was having the problems with the engine and steering. My car has only 59000 miles.
I turned my car on and a Warning light of adaptive steering sensor came on. Then my steering wheel was not in the correct position while I was driving. I only have 80 thousand miles on this vehicle. I feel like this vehicle should have been included the recalls of the other 2017 ford edges. Adaptive steering issues. Please add my VIN # to the recall so I can fix this. I'm afraid to drive it now. Thank you for your time with this problem. I can't afford to fix this. I was told it would cost close to 4000 dollars.
My adaptive steering light came on and my steering wheel turned to the left like I am turning left. I am on social security and can not afford to pay 4000 dollars to have this fixed. Ford has a recall on 2017 edges for this. All these steering wheels are made just alike. This vin# should be included in the recall. I do not want to have an accident due to them not fixing this vehicle. Please help me with this. Thank you.
