What owners report
My steering went completely out. I took it in to the dealership and they replace the power steering pump, said that was not it and replaced the rack. I got it back, and the pump was loud, was clicking when turning, and steering was still moderately unresponsive. They said they would order another power steering pump and go from there. They replaced the pump after several months, and said they drove it with no issues. It is still unresponsive, and will occasionally jerk in one direction when trying to go straight. I am afraid me or someone else will get hurt in an accident with it one day. I just reached out to another dealer as well as Chrysler to see what my options are. It happens at any speed and is constant.
Engine completely shut off while in drive on the road, lost all power, brakes everything. managed to coast into to a parking lot, where the vehicle kept turning on and off. The key didn't seem to connect to the van. the van died as soon as i coasted it off the road. everything is electronic in the van. even taking inserting the key fob into the van did not work. Van has around 93000 miles on it. Had problems where the van would not start at all before then got it to start eventually. It was like the ignition was not reading the key. First time it happened driving on the road. newer vehicle battery and batteries in the key fob. Help. is there a recall on this van?
The vehicle randomly loses all power, which means no power steering and no brakes. It happens randomly and after searching online it appears others have the same issue faced back to the wireless ignition node being faulty. However the previous recall doesn't cover the vehicle I have which is experiencing the exact same symptoms. My wife has already had a close call as she is unable to steer the vehicle without power steering and the brakes don't work at all.
We have had multiple times when we are driving, and our vehicle shuts off and we lose power steering and power brakes. When the van does come to a stop, we are able to restart it and continue on. There is no warning that the van is going to shut off, it just does it. This is our family vehicle. I have found multiple forms online with customers complaining of the same issue with no positive results from the dealerships.
A used vehicle, 2014 Town Country, just got on the road from an inter change, speed limit was 70 MPH, thus only going 65, put cruise control on, weather and pavment was dry and excellent conditions, passing gear kicked in causing spinning of front tires and veering off to the right, hitting a utility truck no damage to truck but mine wow !, been having problems with this vehicle since I bought it, problem dealer would not look at problem vehicle was in motion defective sensors assumption.
Engine stalls randomly, while in motion, highway, city, Country. Vehicle just stops running making it difficult to control steering, stopping. Nearly caused an accident several times, due to the vehicle behind nearly crashing into ours, and the vehicle must be pulled off the road while abruptly decelerating which is dangerous when you must cross several lanes of traffic, as the vehicle cannot be restarted while moving. Vehicle has 56K miles. This problem has been happening for several months. Vehicle must be put into park to restart requiring the vehicle to be pulled off the roadway. The vehicle often does not restart immediately. After taking it to the dealer, they duplicated and verified the stalling issue and suggested to replace the win module, which we agreed to have them do, because we believe it is a extremely important safety concern. Price $700. …
The contact owns a 2013 Chrysler Town and Country. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power. The brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to stop as intended. Additionally, the vehicle lost power steering functionality and the vehicle became difficult to steer. The contact stated that the failure occurred while driving uphill on a very narrow street. The contact was able to shift the vehicle into park, while using both feet to depress the brake pedal. The vehicle was stopped, and the contact turned off the vehicle. The contact stated that her four-year-old granddaughter was a passenger in the vehicle and the situation was very scary. The contact waited for several minutes, before restarting the vehicle. The vehicle was driven to the residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. …
Vehicle has stalled numerous times while operating at high rates of speed 60+ mph in most cases. No prior warning or indication of stalling until vehicle no longer accelerates and then seconds later loses power steering. Usually I can get to the side of the road and pull out of traffic. However last night was not the case. I stalled in a construction zone, with concrete barriers on both sides. I pulled over as far as I could and was nearly hit multiple times by semis and other vehicles. I had my 4 children in the car with me and they are traumatized now. They were bawling because they thought they were going to get hit. We had a sheriff call for a tow truck which was not free. We were left stranded in the dark, in the cold, for an hour just this incident. It once was an issue that only happened occasionally. It happened 6 times this past week while I was out of state for holidays. …
