My 2016 Chrysler Town and country van, started making horrible noises while I was circling to get my friend at the airport. There was no warning light and no place to stop. I slowly drove 2 miles to a gas station and parked it over night, got it towed to my regular shop in the morning. They told me transmission oil pump had failed. They referenced me to NTHSA SAFETY RECALL 16V461000 ( Chrysler recall number S44 ) for transmission oil pump. Recall was for dates Aug 2015 thru Aug 2016. My vehicle DOM was December 2015, right in the middle of the recall date range. However, for unknown reasons, my VIN is not included in the NTHSA recall and Chrysler / FCA / Stellantis is refusing to pay for the $7500 repair. I would like NTHSA to please add my VIN number to the above referenced recall. Please let me know next steps. Thank you!
For the last few weeks my car has been stalling when I come to a complete stop or as I am breaking. Sometimes it takes as many as 7 tries of putting it in park, turning it off and turning it back on. The check engine light is not on. Mechanic cannot determine problem. I have found hundreds of other claims saying the same thing with no resolution found. This has been a reoccuring problem and is inconsistent. Can happen 5 times in a 5 mile trip and 0 times in a 50 mile trip.
Several times over the past few weeks the van has just shut off while driving. This has happened at low speeds and at city driving speeds. The engine just completely shuts off and the van loses power brakes/steering/acceleration with no warning, no rough running, no sounds, and no check engine light. The mechanic cannot find anything wrong with it but the problem continues at random intervals. This is potentially very dangerous and even worse is that there is no evident problem.
transmission was slipping- Chrysler deal inspected the car and found transmission had low oil pressure due to worn oil pump . they replaced the transmission and oil cooler assemble A recall for a transmission pump seizing causing low pressure has been issued for some Chrysler Town& Country 2015.
I drive for Lyft and Uber and have had this vehicle spontaneously shut down while I am driving. I have had three places check it and it is NOT the starter, battery, or alternator. I have replaced the ECU and other items and the mechanics cannot tell me what's wrong. Furthermore, there are NO codes that show on the vehicle. The vehicle on the way to the mechanic shut down in traffic and as per usual, started back up and the traction control light came on. When the mechanic disconnected the positive cable on the battery to check the alternator, battery, and starter the code disappeared and the car drove fine on the way home. I have lost a lot of wages due to this issue and now I am afraid to drive the car. I have seen on several forums that this was an issue in the 2011 recall and now it is happening yet again. …
I was driving on I95 and the car completely shut down. The RPM went to 0. It started up again after about twenty minutes. I had the car repaired (throttle body replaced) and since that incident I have had this same thing happen four more times. The car seems to "resets" itself. I have had the throttle body replaced twice, the ignition control switch twice, the relay harness and then the relay redone. The van only does this periodically. The dealership had my van for six weeks and "couldn't duplicate the problem ". This usually happens when driving for over an hour and speeds over 65mph. Last week I was driving to work, eleven miles from home and it happened again. The van restarted after sitting about thirty minutes.
The contact owns a 2013 Chrysler Town and Country. The contact stated while driving approximately 15 MPH uphill, the vehicle independently stopped. The vehicle was shifted into reverse(R) and the vehicle inadvertently drove forward. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was diagnosed by an independent mechanic with the check engine warning light illuminated. The mechanic replaced the fuel pump, spark plugs, and alternator. The mechanic stated there might also be a failure with the TIPM. The vehicle was also towed to another independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and determined there was a failure with the fuel line connector and an abnormal clicking noise. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.
On multiple occasions, and without warning, the car died while driving creating extremely dangerous and stressful situations. Additionally, the defective fuel pump relay caused the fuel pump to run even when the car was not running. This then caused damage to the fuel pump and required replacing both the relay and pump itself. As the Fuel Pump relay is a single unit soldered together, it could not be independently tested during normal checks. A recall was issues and executed for the same issue on Jeep and Durango models. I also see that this was brought up previously for this T&C model but was determined not to warrant a recall. A known, dangerous, costly, and preventable issue that was corrected elsewhere but not in this model. How is that possible? …

Fuel system, gasoline › Fuel injection system
Vehicle description: Mini vans built with 3.3l and 3.8l engines have fuel rails with nitrole rubber o-ring seals that can degrade over time. Fuel leakage from the underhood fuel injection fuel rail could result, increasing the likelihood of a vehicle fire.
Remedy: Dealers will install a seal on the vehicle fuel rails to prevent external leakage of fuel from the fuel rail crossover tube, should the existing o-rings continue to degrade. Owner notification began on January 25, 2002.
Fuel system, gasoline › Delivery › Fuel pump
Vehicle description: minivans. Fuel can leak from the fuel tank at the interface of the fuel pump module attachment.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the fuel pump module attaching nut with a nut that includes tighter design tolerances. The sealing o-ring will also be replaced.

A static electric charge can build up on the ungrounded metal section of the fuel filler tube.
Remedy: Dealers will install a ground strap for the fuel filler tube.
Fuel system, gasoline › Delivery › Hoses, lines/piping, and fittings
The fuel tank rollover valve can allow fuel to pass into the vapor canister resulting in the potential for fuel leakage.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the fuel tank filler tube with a filler tube that has an additional rollover valve. The associated rollover valve vapor hoses will be rerouted.
