What owners report
This is a reoccuring issue and happens daily. When the vehicle is cold and sitting all day or all night, on the first 5 minutes of driving or so, when you push the accelerator pedal from a dead stop or rolling stop, there is no throttle/engine response for at least 1.5-2 seconds. This is a HIGHLY unsafe condition and can lead to a traffic collision. I have reached out to Toyota Corporate about this and they said to bring it into my local dealer, Dick Hannah Toyota in Kelso, WA to perform the rolling stop TSB that is out on these Tundra Trucks. I received information from Dick Hannah that when they went to perform the procedures to take care of this TSB, that it had already been done and that there was nothing they could do further. They asked me to document the conditions to try and get Toyota Corporate to do something about it. …
I bought the vehicle new in November 2025. 2026 Toyota Tubdra TRD SR5. In the first week I noticed a lot of jerking and shaking. I brought it to the dealer and was told it was a break in period and it should go away. I've had the truck in the shop 5-6 times since and the jerking and shaking hasn't gone away. I'm at 6300 miles now. The dealer won't even respond to me anymore. The only way to make the jerking go away is to step on the gas pedal harder but this has become extremely dangerous because it's forcing me to go faster than I would like, especially in school zones. The dealers say that it's the truck running very low RPM's to maximize fuel efficiency and also because there are 10 gears but is that's the case than why isn't everyone experiencing it. It's worse on cold mornings (40 or below) but it's almost like the truck needs an hour or two to warm up. …
The vehicle does not predictably respond to throttle inputs (if it responds at all), when you come off the brake pedal it will begin rolling at "idle" speed as normal but when you begin to increase throttle input NOTHING will happen for several very important seconds as you roll into an intersection or need the vehicle to accelerate to maneuver. This had happened multiple times before scheduling service appointments. The day BEFORE my appointment while trying to make a right hand turn from EB 13st St in Lemont IL to SB Bell Rd, i had stopped for the red light, verified clearance to make the turn, and began my maneuver. Once I came off the brake pedal the vehicle began to roll into the intersection but as I began to turn the vehicle and try to accelerate though the turn it did not respond WHATSOEVER. …
Vehicle: 2025 Toyota Tundra Component/System: Powertrain / Electronic Throttle Control / Transmission Response Complaint Description: I am reporting a serious safety defect involving delayed and inconsistent acceleration from a stop or low speed. What failed or malfunctioned: The vehicle exhibits a significant delay in throttle response. The electronic throttle and/or transmission fails to deliver engine power when the accelerator is pressed. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Safety risk: This failure creates a hazardous condition when entering intersections, turning across traffic, or merging. On multiple occasions, the truck failed to accelerate when commanded. In one incident, I pressed the accelerator approximately 75% and the vehicle did not respond for 2-3 seconds, nearly resulting in a collision. …
The contact owned a 2024 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked in front the detached garage, the vehicle caught on fire and the incident was caught on the neighbor's camera at 4:31 AM. The neighbor then informed the contact of the incident. The contact noticed that the vehicle had caught on fire and the fire was mainly coming out of the gas pillar area. The contact stated that the entire vehicle had burned to the ground. The fire was extinguished by the fire department. A fire department report was filed. No police report was filed. There was no injury sustained. The vehicle remained at the scene and was in the process of being totaled by the insurance company. The dealer was notified of the failure and provided vehicle rental assistance. …
The fuel gauge as well as DTE resets to full when vehicle is parked nose up on slight incline. My driveway is a few degrees pitched and I park so that the nose is pointing slightly up. After going through 40-70 miles on a new full tank of fuel my fuel gauge reset to full 3 times 3 days in a row. Each time I did the trick to get the fuel sensor to reset/re-read everything while on flat ground. Video was sent to local dealer showing that the fuel gauge is resetting to full incorrectly. Toyota tried a software fix on 2022's only that did not fix the issue. They have not tried to fix it since the 2022's came out. 100's of examples of this can be found all over online. If you park on a steeper incline the tank can reset to full even if you had 1/2 or 3/4's of a tank left. This is dangerous as you could run out of fuel while driving down the highway. …
The contact owned a 2023 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact noticed smoke coming from the vehicle. The contact stated the fuel tank located on the driver's side had caught on fire. The vehicle was extinguished by the Fire Department. A fire report was filed, and a fire report number was provided. The contact owns a 2023 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that the vehicle was not obtaining the correct fuel mileage. The contact stated that, while tracking the mpg, the vehicle was averaging 15.7 mpg. The difference was approximately twenty percent less than the sticker mpg. The contact stated that the mpg sticker stated that the mpg would be 20 mpg. The contact stated that when the vehicle was purchased, he was not provided two keys. The contact stated that while his wife was using the key, the key detached and was lost. The chip was still in the fob, and the contact was able to open the vehicle. The contact stated he was concerned about not having an additional key. The contact was unable to obtain the second key for the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. …
