Rohrich Toyota replaced the severely rusted frame on my 2000 Tundra in 2009, only after NHTSA directed them to. Rohrich Toyota after telling me that per my VIN I wasn't one of affected owners!? Toyota replaced frame and brake lines as well as cross member in 2009. Toyota then reattached rusted fuel line to new frame and now rust from old frame has caused the fuel line to leak severely. I called rohrich and Toyota America and was denied remedy of replacing fuel line! I am a survivor of open heart surgery and my wife is a disabled diabetic amputee and we need our vehicle for dr's appointments and shopping etc... Is there anything you can do to help and soon? I have a 2000 Toyota Tundra and it has a problem that when the car gets hot the engine will stall out and die without warning. It creates no omd ii errors and the check engine light never appears. The ECM fuse blows on occasion but replacing it does not lead to a running vehicle. It fails to start until the engine compartment cools down. There is fire from the spark plugs and there is fuel pressure in the fuel rail. We have replaced all the relays and fuses in the ECM and efi circuits and all fingers are now pointing to the ECM controller itself. We just changed out the fuel pump and are looking at replacement of all the ignition coils (8) and all the fuel injectors (8). But since all of these components seam to be working that would make little since. …
Received a recall notice from Toyota 9sm and a0f and took the truck to conklin cars salina, local Toyota dealership for the inspection. According to Toyota these recalls involve rust and corrosion of the frame, cross members, and fuel tank straps. Conklin cars tech stated no damage, conklin invoice #008916 dated apr 09 2012. Jan 2015 I noticed a hole in the lh frame rail and that the rear fuel tank strap had rusted through and broke. I contacted conklin cars and the service manager looked at it again on jan 30th 2015 and said that he had contacted their Toyota factory rep. About the issues. The service manager suggested that I should not drive this vehicle. The service manager called me the following week and told me that the factory rep. Said that the case was closed and Toyota would not do anything about the repair. …
2000 Toyota Tundra limited access cab 4wd trd. Fuel line link detected after short trip. Excessive fuel pouring from driver side rear door of extended cab. Leaked was slowed when gas cap was removed. Leaked continued at a much slower pace as due to lower pressure in pressurized fuel line. Leak was limited to the cab area only. Frame was recently replaced in recall campaign. Much of the underbody components - leaf spring, axle, springs, brake covers, etc. - are deteriorating due to rust. These components were not covered under the frame recall. Fuel line appeared to have rust but could not detect perforation and could not determine actual location of leak. Car brought to dealer for repair with an estimate of $850 to replace fuel lines.
While pulling a travel trailer with our 2000 Toyota Tundra sr5-v8, we lost power and the check engine came on. After pulling to the side of the interstate, we shut off the engine. After about 5 minutes, we started the engine again, found we had power, but the check engine was still on. We drove another 100 miles to out destination. After several hours, we started the truck again and the check engine light was not on anymore. We had a computer check ran and the code p1121 came up and we were told it would require an accelerator pedal position sensor. We continued to drive the truck for 58 days with no check engine light showing. The check engine light came on again, but went off again.

I have been aware of problems with early model Toyota Tundra frame rust problems and have followed with interest Toyota's response [none]however, I feel obliged to inform you that on Friday 25th the gas tank straps failed while driving and the gas tank fell of the vehicle as luck would have it I was slowing down to make a turn so the consequences were limited. But, 30 seconds earlier at 55 MPH this most likely would not have been a limited consequence situation. Updated ivoq 06/30/10.
