Purchased a duralast battery from AutoZone store #1299 in Hialeah in August 3rd and installed it. The staff was insistent that this battery was a direct replacement part for my lead acid battery. The car drove normally for approximately a month, and on the morning of September 6th started normally with no warning lights. After being driven less than a quarter mile, in slow-moving traffic, the car suddenly lost all power and large amounts of smoke came from under the hood accompanied by a burning smell. This happened in an intersection during 830 AM traffic on a weekday and I was unable to immediately exit the vehicle. This could have been a fatal incident for myself or potentially others. It was towed to a mechanic who started disassembling it to determine the damages. …

The locked door emblem sporadically comes on and stays on. It makes my interior lights stay on. It runs my battery down. The back passenger side door was opened by a rider and the lock all doors button had been engaged. The red light was on to show doors were not locked. This has been an ongoing issue for several months now. I have an appointment at Ford garage 09/13/22.

Problem with the computer for dash. Was worked on at Ford dealership in Lexington ky and had to borrow money with the lender that was already financing the vehicle for me for repairs. They was unable to repair it but still charged me almost 1,800.00.

Jun 2019

The rear taillight socket melted due to excessive heat. This has happened twice to the same vehicle. Once in 05/2019. At the time, a dealer service center recommended replacing the junction box, a $700 repair. The same issue has occurred again.

After driving for a while (roughly a few hours) the Edge does this hard jerk forward that feels like I'm practically being rear ended. It's like a hard pause, before it jerks forward. Then it gradually accelerates. Also, on a few occasions, while pulling out of a parking lot, the Edge did not want to accelerate though I was pressing on the gas. Mind you, I wasn't going fast because I had barely pulled out of the parking stall when this occurred. It barely accelerated then gradually came to a complete stop while in drive. This has also happened while I was exiting the freeway once. I initially thought my battery was the problem, but I had it replaced the following morning. I took it to the dealership and I was told nothing was wrong with it. This was the same response I got when I've taken it to Ford during the term of my warranty. …

My 2008 Ford Edge (since I brought it) has been having the same issue. When driving the vehicle, all of the lights on the panel will light up( wrench light, airbag light, tire pressure light...etc) the odometer will go off and have only dashes, the car will then have a loss of acceleration. The car feels like it is trying really hard to stay in gear or change gears.this will happen on the highway going 60mph as well as local roads at lower speeds. I will have to put my hazards on and pull over on the side. We figured out that if you disconnect the cables on the battery for a few minutes then reconnect the car will then run again OK. This is a serious hazard. I have almost been hit several times on the highway due to this issue and have been hit from behind getting on the highway already. …

2008 Ford Edge sel....with 6f50 transmission....165000 miles.... Vehicle shifts externally hard from 3rd to 4th gear with a hard jerk and load klunk, so much so that it has started causing me neck problems from tensing up in anticipation of the jerk. Also 2 twice up going from park to drive, had an extremly load noise in transmission that shook the entire vehicle and as I attempted to accelerate the RPM rose but the car barely eased forward and the transmission sounded as though it were in a bind. I then put it in park, turned the ignition off, pulled out the key, open and shut the door as to pretend I was exiting, then put key back into ignition, started the car, put it in gear (no problem) and accelerated as normal (no problem), except when it shifted from 3rd to 4th which is around 25mph. …

Same complaints as plenty of others. Driving on the freeway at 65 MPH and the dashboard lights up with error*, the little screwdriver light came on, shows low tire pressure, the seatbelt/airbag light came on and the odometer stayed at zero. I couldn't accelerate and when I parked it, restarted it and tried to change gears it shook the car so hard and was so loud it could be heard inside the building. Something is terribly wrong with this model / year of vehicle and nothing is being done about it. This is the second time it has happened to my car. The first time it reset itself so the dealership couldn't find anything wrong with it. So now if I pay to have it towed to a shop and it resets itself before they can figure out what the problem is, which is looks as if nobody can figure it out, then its wasted money on a tow and a huge risk that this happening again. …
