The 2008 Ford Edge's automatic transmission doesn't engage properly. When on any incline or decline, the car will roll when in gear. Ford states this isn't a "problem" its a "redesign". When the vehicle is put into drive or reverse, you have to hit the gas for the car to move, it doesn't start rolling when you let off of the brake. If you are backing up a hill in reverse and you let off the brake, the vehicle rolls forward while in reverse, it doesn't pull the car backwards still. If a child runs in front of your car while you're backing up and your head is still turned looking back and when you let off the gas to press the brake to shift from reverse to drive, that child or person could be killed. The transmission could also cause an accident in heavy traffic since you have to hit the gas and brake quickly. …

While driving on freeway with children in car on freeway, car suddenly made a hard sound, speedometer dropped to 0 instantly, all dash board lights came on, RPM stayed between 2 and 3, once traffic slowed and accelerator was eased off of car began to slow and would not pick back up speed when pressed again- even when pushed all the way down. I pulled over to the shoulder and turned the engine off. Then turned it back on. Then I tried to put it into gear. The engine sound as if gas was being given to engine from accelerator and RPM was stuck at 2-3, when put into gear, car jolted really hard and moved ever so slowely when I tried to drive it back into traffic to get my family off freeway, even when I pressed pedal all the way to the floor, car barely moved. …

I have a 2008 Ford Edge, I have been noticing over the past few months that at random times the car will lurch forward when accelerating as if it suddenly received a burst of speed. One day I was at a stop light and I took my foot off the brake so that I could drive and the car wouldn't move and when I pressed harder on the accelerator there was a loud bang noise that sounded like the car suddenly clicked into drive. It has been happening more and more often where it lags and sticks and lurches forward when it finally wants to go. Today, it had serious issues where I was trying to accelerate and the car was instead slowing down and lurching forward with the sound of the engine straining and making noise. I had to pull over because the cars behind me had to go around me. I was extremely nervous that the car would stall in the middle of the road or cause an accident. …

Takata recall - vehicle loses speed control power while driving. Wrench light comes on indicating service needed. When vehicle shuts off, resets itself and able to drive 100-150 miles and then the wrench light comes on again. Called dealership and was told that in order to identify the problem, the wrench light would have to be on for them to diagnose the issue. My sister does not drive much, so when it happened again, she happened to be close to an auto zone store and she stopped to have them to read the code in order to get the error reading. The code was p0715 - referring to turbine input speed shaft sensor. This is a safety issue and Ford should recall this as it is a known issue. I purchased this vehicle for my sister 6 months ago. At the the time in which I bought this car for my sister, 2 weeks later she was diagnosed with a brain tumor and cannot drive. …

On approximately 7/6/2016, while in motion, traveling north on riverside drive -I-55 north, on the 2-lane overpass at I-55 & mclemore, 18 wheeler was to the right and I was behind another motorist in line and traveling about 70 MPH with a line of vehicles behind, it was after work rush hour 4:45 pm; when as I am driving the vehicle sputters, seemed to it lose power, decelerates in the middle of on going traffic. The engine light flashed and then stayed illuminated, I could not accelerate in order get off to the side of the highway and traffic was at a very fast flow. My Sync system surged, a-c stopped blowing cold air, the vehicle started "missing" but the vehicle did not shut off. Took the vehicle to advance auto parts store and was told that I had a misfire in 3 of the ignition coils, bought replacement coils and had all 6 of them replaced. …

Driving on the highway suddenly speedometer/odometer stopped working, low tire pressure light came on and car acceleration dropped and it wouldn't respond to increased pressure on gas pedal. Car would not accelerate. Had to get off the highway. Car would only travel at a very low speed. Made my way to a parking lot and shut the car off. Shifting into any gear (reverse, drive etc.) caused the car to jump/shake and make a loud noise. After a while it resolved itself. Took the car to a Ford dealership. They checked it out, could find no issue (incidental finding - car needed battery). Battery was replaced, picked up car and resumed driving the car. Within a week was driving on the highway (second time since picking the car up) and had the same thing happen. …

The information panel lit up with the check engine light, the wrench, the airbag light, the tire pressure light and displayed a message: odo data error. The odometer/speedometer fell to zero. I stopped at a light and the vehicle would not accelerate normally, then a big clunking sound and finally moved forward. After a night in the garage, the vehicle drove normally the next day and all the warning lights were off. Then one day it happened again. Took it to a Ford dealership. They said they could not duplicate the problem and therefore couldn't find anything to fix. Since that time, it has happened several times and each time I pull off the road, turn the engine off, wait a little bit, start the engine again and pull away. There is always the clunking and jerking into gear. …

The speedometer stopped working, two or three warning light on the instrument panel came on, the car lost all power. I would only go forward with the gas petal pushed to the floor. It's a known issue, found out from youtube many people have had the same exact issue. It's an intermittent issue that happens when the vehicle is on the road creating a hazardous situation for everyone. Here is what is known about this issue. Technical service bulletin 07-3-11 6f50 transaxles built prior to 1/1/2007 - DTC p0715, p0717, p0718, p0720, p0721, p0722 and/or harsh engagement, no upshift, fifth gear only. …

Wrench light, dashes on odometer, speedometer on zero, airbag light on. Loses the ability to accelerate properly. It has happened 6 times this month, usually on the highway after I've had to slow down with traffic and try to accelerate again. Get to the side of the road or a parking lot and shut the car off. Restart it all warning lights are gone but still will not accelerate. Shift in and out of reverse and drive with very loud knocking and jerking. Move car back and forth. Restart and repeat multiple times before it resets itself. It never happens by somewhere that can scan it to get a code. As the wrench light goes off and stays off after you restart the car no one can tell me what's wrong. It is extremely frustrating. I am quickly losing faith in Ford and their regards for customers safety. …

I was driving out of town for a work meeting with an employee. Only going approx 45-50 MPH, all the sudden the speedometer drops to 0 along with the mileage on my car(just dashes), then the airbag light came on and a wrench light came on then few minutes later the tire pressure light. We were coming up on a red light so I slowed down and stopped. When the light turned green I pressed my gas pedal and the car went no where. I slowly moved to the side of the road and shut my car off. I was hoping to make it to the gas station 2 miles up the road. I waited a few minutes turned my car back on a very odd noise happened the speedometer was back on and the lights were gone, I went to put the car in d and the odd noise again, pushed the gas to accelerate and nothing. Currently my car is on the side of the road waiting a tow 1 hour away from home. …
