I purchased a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee in 2005 from a used car dealer in albuquerque. At that time no recalls or repairs of any safety related defects were revealed to me. I received a recall in novenber 2006 for cooling fan that I had already had done . Daimler/Chrysler reimbursed me for some of the repairs done. On 4-17-07 I was north bound on unser approaching ladera, traffic was stopped at the red light. I was traveling the speed limit which was posted at 35 MPH. I pressed on the brake pedal to begin slowing down and nothing happened. I then slammed my foot down on the pedal it went to the floor and I rear ended a large pickup at the intersection. The air bags did not deploy, and I did not think the seat belt engaged untill I hit the steering wheel with my sternum. My injuries were minor, and I elt the injuries of the person I hit were also minor. …

Sudden stalling while driving or at idle. Applicable at all speeds from idle to freeway speeds. Sometimes the vehicle will restart and other times it will not restart right away. Sometimes it will restart if the vehicle sits for about 15 minutes and other times it has left me stranded for three hours or more. I have stalled in the middle of busy intersections and freeways. I have taken the vehicle in for repairs three times, have paid over $400 in repair bills to have parts replaced and the issue still occurs. There are many complaints in internet forums for the exact same thing and most seem to lead to a faulty engine control module. I have not yet replaced the engine control module myself since they can cost over $400 and the dealer cannot guarantee that this will fix it. …

The front brake rotors on my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee warpe about every 10,000 miles. I am about to replace them for the third time at 42000 miles! At 31000 miles, the local Jeep dealer installed a "fit" kit" which obviously has not worked. The brake problem is an obvious safety problem. The first time that this happened, I was traveling down a steep road in the sierra/nevada mountains and almost lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle experienced severe shaking and steering wheel jerking during breaking. I had to gear down and travel very slowly until I reached level ground. After intense questioning, the dealer (joe kerley: san jose ca) acknowledged the frequency of this problem. So has Chrysler via the "repair kit". A call to Chrysler indicated that they wont act because roters are an wear item. I bellieve that there is a design flaw that has the potential to hurt or kill someone. …

For going on 2 months now my car has stalled at the most inconvenient times. Turning into gas stations, stopping at stop lights, driving on busy streets going up to 50mph. Usually I can just pop it into neutral and restart it but as of late, it won't turn back over until I replace the ignition fuse. I have replaced that fuse twice now, replaced the map sensor, replaced the fuel filter, yet nothing has offered a permanent solution to this problem. As you can clearly tell, this is a very dangerous problem to be having and by reading through these complaints I see I am far from alone. Not to mention the cost associated with having to replace all of these parts (per advice from mechanics) while getting nowhere. Please fix this or figure out what is causing it before someone gets seriously injured or worse. …

The consumer rear ended another vehicle in a panic stop while driving at 60 MPH. Upon impact, the frontal air bags failed to deploy. The dealership or the manufacturer were providing any information on why the air bags failed to deploy. The front passenger sustained bruises from the seat belt. The vehicle displayed a hard start due to improper fuel pressure, it would take a long time to crank before catching, and the brakes pulsated due to warped rotors.

On jan. 10, 2007, I was in a head-on collision and my air bags did not deploy. The whole front end of my Jeep was smashed and I have to get a whole new front clip for it. Also, the brakes went all the way to the floor and didn't seem to work properly. I am very upset about these issues and would like to know why the air bags would not deploy in this type of collision.

As I was in park with my vehicle running, my vehicle jumped out of park into reverse and rolled away eventually hitting a woman putting her into the hospital. It also had done damage to the funeral home we were at. I was not in the vehicle at the time. Several times before the incident the car shifter would lock up and not even move out of park.

Front brake rotors and pads replaced 4 times in 40,000miles. Chrysler even replaced them and front calipers the first time. The last time they were replacd was a month before the accident. For the 4th time, steering wheel and pedal vibrate when braking suddenly.I lost control and rolled the 2000 Grand Cherokee into a guard rail.
