Selected complaints filed with NHTSA by 2014 Ford Fusion owners, lightly cleaned up (personal details are redacted by NHTSA).

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that upon driving after the vehicle had been exposed to rain or water at the carwash, the side mirrors would readjust unintendedly while driving. The contact stated that while driving 75 MPH and changing lanes, the failure reoccurred, causing him to lose visibility of another vehicle, which almost caused a crash. The contact was able to continue driving. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the side mirrors wiring needed to be rewired. The dealer informed the contact that he had to pay for the repair out-of-pocket; however, the contact declined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 118,000.

The back-up safety camera has become at best intermittently functioning, sometimes will not come on at all when the transmission is placed in reverse. When it does come on with reverse, the camera will often cut out in the middle of a backing maneuver while the vehicle is in motion. From the checking I've done online this appears to be a common issue with ford's back-up cameras, and I am surprised a safety recall is not already in effect, considering these cameras came on the vehicles as required safety equipment.

This is a report of the same issues that have been issued a recall for newer years of the same make and model, the Ford Fusion. The rear backup camera stopped working and directly impedes the safety and visibility when reversing the vehicle. An error/warning comes up to contact the dealership due to the malfunction. The 2014 was excluded from the recent recall for these same backup cameras on the 2016+ models. The recall needs to be extended to ALL years of the Ford Fusion.

The climate control system shuts off and stays off for long periods of time, meaning there is no functioning air conditioning in vehicle. It's been off for almost a week now for me. It's off when it's stationary or in motion. The problem isn't with the air conditioner itself as it'll sometime come on and remain on for a long duration. The volume knob also becomes inoperable. Some drivers of this vehicle weren't able to operate their windows as well when the climate system shut off so I believe it's faulty wiring somewhere. We already know why this is dangerous. We can die of heat exhaustion especially since I'm experiencing 100 degree weather right now. Secondly, when it rains, the interior fogs up making it nearly impossible to drive. The vehicle was taken to a Ford dealership for this very issue and the problem has not been fixed. …

On a cool rainy evening in oconomowoc, wi, the inside of the windshield became covered with film that could not be wiped off with a cloth, a squeegee, or a blackboard eraser. Visibility was marginal on a dark road, but when facing oncoming headlights, the windshield lit up and completely lost its transparency. Multiple times, crashes were barely avoided by dead reckoning of the continuation of the lane locus. Since that time we have purchased rainx compound for cleaning inside of windshield and used it multiple times, with some positive results, but still have remaining streaks. Event May have been aggravated by environmental conditions. Defroster, even with high heat, could not eliminate the windshield problem at the time...updated 09/08/15 updated 10/14/2015

Complete failure of the wiper system, wipers doesn't operate when activated by the switch. Seems like the motor that turn them doesn't have power to turn, sometimes the passenger side wiper moves until the final upward position and get stuck, not retracting for another movement until it has been manually returned to the initial position. Very dangerous, had to stop the car immediately and could not even see the road side! Just didn't crashed the car because I was lucky!

Drove a short distance to meet a friend. When I came out to go home my dash lights would not work, door chime and seat presets inoperative. Also determined on the way home that I had no turn signals, window controls, high beams or radio. Looked online to discover that fords are susceptible to electrical issues. The low key battery warning had been on all day prior to this happening. This is very dangerous as it is winter here and we are expecting rain and snow.

Turn signals suddenly did not function/wipers also non -function - steering wheel button controls - non- function did some internet research and several had the same issue happen - several Ford techs resolved with cycling the high beams on the vehicles- I did the same and resolved the issue as well- this is a safety hazard and fellow Ford Fusion owners need to be alerted this can happen suddenly .
