I purchased the vehicle used from a local Mercedes dealership (April 2018) with multiple open recalls. One of the recalls was 16S42. On May 2, 2018, the vehicle was brought to a local Ford dealer where they "corrected" the open recalls. In February 2020, my wife was involved in a motor vehicle accident on the interstate. There was a construction zone that brought traffic to a stop and she was rear-ended by an SUV at speeds between 45-60 MPH totaling the vehicle while it was at a stop. She was the only occupant and was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the cash. The airbags did not deploy and the driver seatbelt did not lock causing her head to strike the steering wheel. She didn't remember if she lost consciousness or not, however, she was later diagnosed with a concussion. The vehicle has since been totaled and was taken into possession by the insurance company. …
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while wearing the driver's side seat belt, the seat belt failed to retract and was locked. The contact stated that the failure mostly occurred after the vehicle had been parked outside in extreme heat, but the seat belt operated as needed in the morning after the vehicle had been parked in the garage overnight. The contact was unable to secure herself inside the vehicle using the seat belt. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V875000 (Seat belts); however, the VIN was not included. The local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with a front driver's side seat belt and seat belt retractor failure. The contact was informed that the front driver's side seat belt retractor and seat belt needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was informed that the parts needed to be ordered. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 92,500.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked and attempting to place the rear driver's side and center seat in the upright position, the seats failed to move. The contact removed the bottom half of the seat bracket to get the seat in the upright position. The contact was however unable to reconnect the seat belt back in the correct position. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximate 70,000.
Rear seat belt plastic clasp has broken on both sides and no longer function. Additionally, replacement parts are not available. Children are no longer able to sit in the rear seat. This issue has been reported in online forums.
I was in a recent bad car accident with my 2014 Ford Fusion.I was stationary at a red light when I was suddenly hit from the rear. I sustain serious injury to my left side of my neck , shoulder and back. My selt belt didnt restrain and secure my body to protect me from serious injuries. And I see there is a recall about this situation from the same make model and year of my vehicle * (recall related incident) ts
I rear-ended a 2002 Dodge Ram. A guy was mad that I blew at him because he slept the previous traffic light and slammed on brakes at a green turning arrow and I hit him, he kept going. My whole front end is damaged. Air bags should've come out.
My car veered off the road and I hit a cut off tree about the diameter of a telephone pole. It hit dead center in the front and not one single airbag deployed and the seatbelt let me fly up and hit mt head very hard on something.
Seatbelt failed during collision did not lock fully extended and did not retract brakes did not engage right away
I have now had to replace my backseat seat belts 3 times, twice on the passenger backseat and once on the driver backseat. Mind you these are seat belts that do not get latched and unlatched several times a day like the driver seat, but these seat belts stay latched with a car seat so they should not be getting wore out so quick. Also these belts broke while the vehicle was stationary, no pressure on them. This is extremely scary for me especially since my two children ride in these seats daily and the seat belts broken with out any pressure. What is going to happen if I get rear ended by someone going 50 MPH???? I contacted Ford and they only wanted to do 2 things: continue to replace the seat belts as the break...really, next time it could be broke from a wreck!! The other option was to trade my car in. …
