What owners report
The contact owns a 2024 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the rear bench seat was loose. The contact stated that the base was attached; however, the back of the bench moved and wiggled when the hand was placed anywhere on the bench. The contact stated that the seat was not secured, and it was not safe to install the car seat on the bench. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was informed that it was normal for the seat to move. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 2,000.
I have a 2024 Ford Edge SEL. The issue is the the driver front and passenger front head rests. The head rest is only adjustable up to down, not forward or back. The current position of the head rest with the seat in normal upright driving position forces your head into your chest and you are looking at the floor with no neck support. There is no position to adequately support your head and neck with the current headrest. It is tilted too far forward toward the windshield. Dealer confirmed. Dealer looked it over and said this is how its made. No warnings. Just the position of the headrest appears to be tilted extraordinarily too far forward. High potential for injury in a crash. What I'd like to see is an alternate Headrest to alleviate the angle the current one poses upon the drive rand passenger.
- Seat back and seatbelts. Vehicle totaled. - Fractured right humerus and nose, Radial Nerve Palsy, unemployment - 4 vehicles involved (report attached) - no warnings - Broken driver's seat back (my weight 140lbs)
The contact owns a 2018 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the driver's and passenger's side seat adjustment rails had sharp edges. Due to the seat tracks sharp edges, the contact punctured her left leg on the track upon entering the vehicle. The contact sought medical treatment for her injury and was treated for an infection to the wound on her left leg. The contact went to the dealer and notified them of the issue. The dealer decided to place tape on the edges of both seat adjustment tracks to prevent any further injuries. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no further assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the track underneath the front driver's side seat had a sharp edge, which cut her ankle. The contact had a cut on the back of the right calf but did not seek medical attention. An appointment with the dealer was scheduled to inspect the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
Intermittently the seat heater for the drivers seat activates on its own. Goes to full heat getting extremely hot. Cannot initially turn down or off with the button on dash. Have to turn off vehicle and let it sit. Start vehicle - seat heater still on full. Sometimes the off/start sequence has to be repeated several times, before the button will work, lowering or turning off the seat heater. Incidents are increasing in frequency. Now taking more off/starts to get the seat heater to deactivate. Last incident. 5 off/start sequences over an 8-10 minute period.
The seat rocks back and forth on takeoff and stop. Self inspected and found cracked square tubing on frame of seat. Car does not feel safe to me to drive. Car has never been in accident to my knowledge. Was purchased used.
Power seat assembly is broken and it looks to be a common problem and it needs addressed asap before someone get killed. My family and I were driving on the interstate and the seat made a very fast "zip" or "ratcheting" noise and immediately tilted backwards several inches causing me to swerve all over the road but gained control of the vehicle. In my search of this problem, I found it was a very common problem and a very expensive fix all the while Ford knowing about it, but not fixing the weak problems causing this. This is 100% a safety factor for everyone on the roadways and it needs addressed now before it becomes a statistic with injuries or worse gravestones. The part at first glance and educated guess is to be the motor drive gears or what Ford is calling "rails". They expect you to purchase the whole "seat adjuster" bt4z-7861711-d for what is 100% a road safety hazard.
