I have a Toyota Tundra 2008, will leaving the bank, I was slowly approaching a stop sign. There was a car in front of me already waiting at the stop sign. I tried to step on the brake, and the floor mat came up over the brake pedal, restricting me from fully pressing down the pedal. I could not stop, I turned my truck to run into the curb and not hit the car in front of me, I hit the curb and ran up on the side walk. While moving slowly I quickly removed the mat from over the pedal, and brought my vehicle to a complete stop. No one was injured, no damage to any property. Now I have received a letter from Toyota today coincidently asking me to turn in my truck for recall.
As I arrived at my home and drove up into my driveway I experienced an unexplained acceleration on my 2008 Toyota Tundra that made me react to slam on the brakes and cause the truck to slide on an unpaved (dirt) surface in my yard and slide into the trunk of a pine tree and damaging the front bumper to my truck. I heard on the news that there was a recall for the floor mats on this vehicle to be removed if it did not have clips to hold the mat in place. My truck does have the clips to hold the mat in place and prevents the acceleration pedal from getting lodged with the mat. I do believe the acceleration problem was caused by an unknown defect and not the floor mat. Currently, the floor mat remains in place on its clips without interference to the acceleration pedal. Today, I received a recall letter from Toyota to remove the floor mat, therefore, I will. …
I have a 2007 Toyota Tundra sr5 double cab and have had all of my regular maintenance completed on time and at a local Toyota dealership. I have made the complaint of my gas pedal sticking and my floor mats were not an issue. They claim they "fixed" the recall problem with adding a part to the gas pedal. Since I have had my truck back, it has not worked properly. The gas pedal still accelerates on its on or decelerates on its on. The gas pedal "floats" with your foot so the engine is constantly making the RPM's rise and fall constantly upon riding over bumps or hills. I don't want a "part" to be installed, I want the entire pedal to be replaced! I like my truck, however, the engine does not run correctly and is constantly making a ticking sound like a diesel engine would sound. …
Toy. 2007 5.7 crew-max 4+4 p2440 code came on and truck went into safety mode .greatly reduced speed . 4 lo lt. Comes on as well as engine, traction and anti slip lts. I carry a hand-held code detector and clear the code as soon as it comes up and continuously clear it as I'm driving. Toyota wanted 3400.00 to fix this defect after I bought 3 new tundras from them every 3 years. This has gone on for 13 mo. 8 mo. Into it my truck started dying and would not start for several min.while I was driving on interstate and was stranded in middle of road more than once. This went on for 1 week 2 different times than it started running again with just the p2440 code coming up all the time and shutting me down. This has happened to many many people including my brother in law who also had a 2007 Tundra ex. Cab. They fixed his because he was only 1500 mile out of warranty. …
My husband had a crash on 06/26/2009 on his Toyota Tundra 2006 in concord, california (highway 242). He said he was on the freeway and the traffic stopped suddenly. He pushed the brake pedal, but the truck kept running at the speed that it was without stopping. He crashed 3 cars, and the Toyota Tundra 2006 was a total lost. Thank god nobody was hurt in that accident. But it took us so long for the insurance company to reimbursed us the cost of the truck. Also, I think it wasn't fair, because the truck was in such good condition, he was taking care of that truck like it was his baby.
I noticed power outlets were loose info dealership, panel was loose as well, dealership replaced a pin and fix pwr outlets. This was in feb.. A month later power outlet panel loose again, dealership replaced pin, this has been happening so many times now, this time power outlet panel as fell to the floor board, I can't brake to well or accelerate with a panel by my feet.
