October 13, 2014 my 2014 gr cher has the most dangerous shifter design I've ever used in a motor vehicle! The ignition switch does not kill the engine if the vehicle is in gear even if the vehicle is stopped. The shifter does not always enter park when operated which creates the possibility that the vehicle May drive off when the driver believes he has stopped it.. Combined with the quietness of the motor, ambient noise May make it impossible to know that the vehicle is in gear with the motor running! After pulling into my garage with landscapers working in the yard, I thought I had placed the vehicle into park and hit the ignition button to turn it off. Unfortunately, the shifter kept the car engaged in reverse. And, the motor didn't turn off! Not only did the engine not shut off, but the vehicle began to drive backward as I exited the driver's seat. …
I put the car into park, and as I was exiting the car, at a dead end road in my neighborhood, I realized that the car was going in reverse, as I was half in and half out of the car. The door knocked me to the ground, and the car almost ran over my foot. I got abrasions on several areas of my body, sprained my knee, elbow and my hand. My glasses also got ran over and were destroyed. The car kept going in reverse, and hit a chain link fence before I could run to catch up to it. The rear hatch door is all scratched, the window scratched, the left rear quarter panel is dented and scratched, inside the hatch on the left hand side of the frame is scratched and dented, the left rear light is broken. …
Wife parking on 1st floor of parking structure in downtown green bay, wi July 13th 2016. She shifted to reverse to adjust the vehicle so as to enter the parking space correctly. The vehicle started to move back while she looked over her shoulder to see what was behind her. All of a sudden the truck stopped going back & violently jerked forward. The truck started moving rapidly forward even though it had not been shifted into drive. The front tires jumped up on the curb at the front of the parking spot. The truck hit the cement wall violently at the front of the parking space. The front of the truck actually went through a portion of the cement wall. The motor was revving loudly while the truck was pressed up against the wall as if trying to push its way through the wall. …
On 9/23/20 my 2014 Grand Jeep Cherokee accelerated on its own causing me to crash into a fountain wall. I was parking and almost at a complete stop when my car went haywire. It felt as if I got hit from behind, my dash lit up, my engine revved real loud and my car lunged forward. There was enough force to lift my front end and place it on the 2nd tier of the fountain wall. I was in a tight parking area at the hialeah gardens building department. Please google earth the parking lot to understand the parking lot and how compact it is. I had an investigation done on my car and received a very generic response via email regarding the findings and that Chrysler / Jeep were not LED to believe that the incident was due to a manufacturing responsibility. Not one person has called me to discuss. Jeep is very lucky my kids were not in the car and that I didn't kill anyone or myself. …
RE: The Power Liftgate Module Malfunction Approximately 45 days ago I began to see water build up inside the well where the liftgate locks. After seeing this twice - after it rained - I was at the dealership for an oil change and asked them to take a look. After review they suspected water intrusion, as there was a recall but not specifically on my VIN. Dealership indicated water tests were needed and I needed to drop my car off for the day or 2. They also indicated to seek your help because of the recall. I couldn't leave my car there that day. On 3/28/26 I did several water tests on the hatchback, using a hose and controlled the flow over the different sections of the hatchback in grid fashion of 6 sections. Each section I sprinkled water like a light rain and then waited 60 mins to see if the water would make it into the lock well. …
