The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle, the instrument cluster went blank and failed to display the speedometer or fuel gauge. The contact parked and turned off the vehicle. The contact stated that before the failure the battery was recharged due to the vehicle not being driven daily. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 13V483000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic, Electrical System, Electronic Stability Control); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 172,600.
Vehicle was parked in a parking stall at the city park. I left the vechicle to pickup tools at the parks band shelter which was about 40 feet from the parked vechicle. I returned to parked location and the vechicle was gone. I found it about 20 feet away wedged up against the park shelters pillar with a bicycle wedged underneath the vechicle. The vechicle was stopped by brick column about 4' from the playground. 3 school age boys were mere seconds from being struck by the vechicle. The vechicle never turned off as when I exited the vechicle and put it into park, the vechicle didn't 'shift' into park as expected. The incident was caught on camera by the parks security camera. It's is terrifying to say the least. After the fact photos are included here as well.
I started my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee and stepped outside to assist my son who was in the front passenger seat. Before I could walk around, from behind, the Jeep started rolling backwards, picking up speed, and hitting another parked SUV. I never understood what actually happened just "assumed" my son, accidentally, touched the gears, but wondered how/why would the Jeep move without the brake ever being depressed. Their was rear damage to my SUV and rear/front damage to the other person's car. It is now being published that both the 2014 and 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee have had numerous incidents of rolling on their own--it now explains everything--my SUV did it. It was not parked on a slope, hill, or any type of incline--just a flat surface.
My lights outside/inside go black/no lights with no warning. Other cars flash their lights at me and all I can do is turn on overhead light, and drive very slow. Also my brakes won't work, this happened three times. I'm scared to drive at any time after dark. My car was in shop for 37 days because they could not get parts to fix/after accident.
Chrysler (FCA us llc) recall t36 / NHTSA 17v-435 incident summary on 2018-01-21, my 2104 Jeep Grand Cherokee stalled while traveling at approximately 65mph. A crash was avoided, but the situation was highly dangerous to passengers and other drivers on the road. This incident exhibited all the symptoms and warnings from Chrysler (FCA us llc) recall t36 / NHTSA 17v-435. (summarized below) the vehicle lost power and stalled while driving on the highway. Just prior to the stall, warnings briefly flashed in the instrument control panel. Warnings included; battery saver mode, ABS system failure, suspension failure. All electronics in the vehicle exhibited bizarre behavior and could not be controlled. Additionally the speedometer continually recycled and the wipers turned on with no intervention. Complete loss of power steering and braking occurred. …
I received an over the air update for my vehicle, which I began to install. The installation failed, and the next time I got in my car many things were wrong, some of which are a major safety concern to me. When I place the car in reverse the backup camera should come up and the mirrors automatically redirect downwards. Since attempting to install this update, sometimes these things don't happen at all, or have a long delay (others it works as it should). Other times, the backup camera and mirrors will stay on as if I am still in reverse well after I begin driving the vehicle, which makes it impossible for me to use the side mirrors and is very distracting and dizzying seeing the backup camera while driving. Additionally, the GPS has been impacted and often has me on a different road and announces a speed limit incorrectly. …
While driving on the roadway and highway my vehicle will randomly kick itself into neutral and will kill the engine with no sudden warning and or warning lights that there is a problem. The battery will remain on but the engine is off. This has happened on 3 separate occasions since I purchased the vehicle in 2015 more recently this issue began in 2019. After attempting to restart the vehicle it will attempt to turn over the engine but will not start, leaving me stranded in the middle the the roadway. 50/50% chance the engine light will turn on and unknown error. The only way I have been able to move the vehicle is to remove the battery cable and let it sit for 30 minutes resetting the electrical system. Though this is a short term fix. I have contacted multiple Jeep dealers in the area and everyone I have talked to has advised me they have never seen or heard of this problem. …
Event occurred December 22, 2014. After multiple monthly check engine lights and "replace" of the computer, the vehicle information center gave a warning of "incorrect def detected." (only mopar def had been used). Within 10 miles the vic warning stated "vehicle will not restart in 200 miles." return to the dealer again after the previous visit 3 days prior to "reflash" the computer indicated a recent TSB for replacement of the catalytic converter. I also had them check the def pump and nozzle which was clogged with crystallized def. After two weeks of waiting with them not able to find a catalytic converter and new oxygen sensor I was forced to trade the vehicle at a loss. (Chrysler would not offer any help on the trade). Update 9/15/15 on June 7, 2014 the traction control light illuminated, the steering sensor shorted out. …

I was driving my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee when it shut off while I was driving 40 MPH luckily I was in a parking lot and could slow down to the shoulder where I was then pushed away from traffic they said it was due to a short in my tippin and my fuel pump went my truck was brought brand new and barely has 50,000 miles on it and over 2000 complaints for the same thing for faulty equipment put in the vehicles from 2005 to 2014 and Chrysler does not want to be held accountable so they have not put a recall on it and it is an open lawsuit that I saw it cost me over $3000 to get this fixed and this could really have went a different way I could've been hit and killed Chrysler needs to be held accountable but I guess they won't make a recall and less someone is killed
