What owners report

At low speeds from 20-35 miles per hour, the vehicle ABS causes braking to fail to halt the vehicle in the anticipated distance of other cars. It takes 3.5 car lengths at 18-20 MPH, which can lead to rear end collision with the vehicle in front of you. You are forced to keep double the normal number of car lengths behind the vehicle in front of you. And your front wheels start sort of 'hopping' causing partial loss of traction, during the ABS cycle that probably shouldn't be engaging. I had the same experience with my prior 2007 Honda accord hybrid, only worsened by the various hybrid components kicking in and out, including the regen braking, and the engine cutoff, as well as the ABS and the transmission downshifting. I had two minor rear end front end accidents but frequently found myself skidding into intersections. …

The first time this problem occurred was driving on nd hwy. 15. The driver's sliding door would come unlatched when driving down the road at 65 MPH. Push the automatic door latch button again and it stayed latched for about 7 miles and it would unlatch itself and the alarm would go off. Telling you the slidingdoor was unlatched. I took the van to rydell's Honda dealer in grand forks, nd they replace the latch and rollers on both sliding doors. They said it happens when you live on gravel roads and the rollers and latches would get wore because the rollers and part of the latch is made of plastic. Honda service manager told us to try to keep the roller guides clean and pressure wash the roller guide really well. We did this for about a year clean the the guides biweekly and we had the same troubles again. …

I took my 2008 Honda Odyssey to the dealer after receiving the brake recall notice. The dealer made the changes to correct the problem as per the recall notice. About 1 month later while I was traveling 50 -55 mphi had to stop quickly to avoid hitting a car that had stopped in the road ahead of me. The brake pedal went to the floor and the van did not stop so I was forced to pull off the road onto a lawn and my van side swiped a mailbox . This was a terrifying experience for me and my 11 year old son who was in the passenger seat. I took the van back to the dealer on Monday( 2 days after the accident) but was told the brakes were fine and the recall had been fixed appropriately.

Hello I would like to bring a very serious matter to your attention. On sept 26th, 2009 between 12:30 ' 1:00 pm, I was driving from binghamton, ny to hicksville, ny with my family I.e. My wife and 3 children aged from 18months, 3 years and 5 years old when the floor mat of my Honda Odyssey 2008 got stuck under the race pedal. This matter created a serious situation and sped my car over 80 MPH. I had to keep on trying and pushing the floor mat down, fortunately I was able to push the floor mat away from the race pedal. This could have caused a serious crash or injuries; therefore I would like to bring this matter to your attention. I would truly appreciate if I could please get an acknowledgement from you of this report for my records. I hope you will bring this matter up with Honda so that they are aware that this is an issue with Honda Odyssey.

We are owners of 2007 Honda Odyssey (VIN # [redacted] ). On July 13, 2010 as we were pulling into a parking lot, the right hand side back window suddenly exploded. The vehicle was traveling less than 5 per hour when this happened. Although four kids and one adult were in the vehicle at the time, no one was injured. We immediately reported the incident to the law enforcement (rpt # [redacted] with city of columbus div. Of police). The police searched for any foreign object that May have hit the window. They found nothing inside or outside of the vehicle. Although we have been experiencing temperature in the high 80's low 90's, it was in the 70's low 80's on that day. When we researched this issue on-line for similar incidents, there were numerous complaints with rear window exploding. We notified the local Honda dealership immediately for potentially defective windows. …

I have a 2007 ex with 13,000 miles and both of the tailgate (hatch) struts just failed suddently on 08/15/2010. There should be some additional safety mechanism on these so that they just don't collapse and cause harm (the hatch almost slam my 7-years old son on the head). Both can not go bad at one time and either one should support some weight. It is quite dangerous. These liftgate struts should be recalled before bad things happen. Honda should stand behind what they put in these cars.

I have a 2006 Honda Odyssey and on a recent trip to california my air conditioner stopped working. I brought it into my local dealership to have it checked out and was told at the time that if it was struck by a rock it would not be covered under warranty. About an hour later the service technician contacted me to tell me that sure enough a rock has hit my A/C condenser and it would cost $700.00 to fix it because it is not covered under warranty or extended warranty. The service technician also stated that this has been happening quite often. I decide to google my A/C condenser and was not surprised to find countless forums with hundreds of people all stating the exact same story complete with the same exact comments from the technicians. My suspicions raised, this begins to sound like a rehearsed story of "a rock has hit your ac condenser putting a hole in it" . …

I have a 2006 Honda Odyssey lx minivan. The ac stopped working. Twice. Within warranty time/mileage. The dealer told me that the ac condenser was damaged by stone, causing leakage of cfc. I called Honda, they claimed that they have nothing to do with it. Even the front grille they installed in their newer models are "for any number of reasons, not necessarily to fix this design flaw". Cfc kills ozone layer. I feel bad my van dumped two tanks of cfc into the (already badly polluted) atmosphere . Honda's bad design causes big time pollution, and it is a problem that can be fixed with a tiny cost added to the vehicle. Honda cuts corners, and this is a bad one. It causes consumers so much, because Honda wants to save a couple of bucks. Other car makers May have the same issue - they do not cover fragile part in the vehicle properly.
