The contact stated that while pulling halfway into a parking spot with her foot on the brake pedal, the vehicle suddenly accelerated, turning slightly right to miss a handicapped spot, crashed into a palm tree, and drove over rocks before the vehicle stopped. The vehicle went from 0 to 30 MPH within seconds. The ignition was turned off during the failure. The driver's side seat and top air bags deployed and struck the contact in the face, causing a burning of the face. There was smoke inside the vehicle. The driver was able to exit the vehicle. The contact sustained bruises. The driver's son was seated in the driver's side rear seat. The air pressure warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer for an oil change the day before the failure. The vehicle was towed to the residence and then later towed to a Geico lot. …

2026 Odyssey · 6,000 miles · Sep 2026 · crash · 1 injury

I was driving down a 35mph road, the car in front of me slowed down, I was about 2 car lengths behind it. No notice, no warning, my Odyssey SLAMMED on the brakes and brought me to an abrupt stop with no notice and no need. Everything in the van flew forward and in the floor. Luckily there was no one directly behind me. It gives me serious whiplash when this happens and it is uncalled for, the car in front of me did not stop it only slowed down, there was plenty of room between our vehicles (we were only going about 30 mph) and there was absolutely no warning- just BAM! and my van was stopped in the middle of the road. Something needs to be done about this, someone is going to be killed! I took it to the dealer the last time and they said the van did not record it. So another easy out for Honda! And nothing they can do...

2025 Odyssey · Software · 15,000 miles · May 2026

What happened? While driving my 2025 Honda Odyssey, the engine failed to restart during an Auto Idle Stop event at a 4-way stop/intersection. When releasing the brake to take my right-of-way, the engine stalled completely. The vehicle became immobilized, the power steering went heavy/stiff, and the brake pedal became difficult to depress. I had to manually cycle the ignition by shifting to "Park" and pressing the "Start" button multiple times to regain power while traffic was waiting. This has occurred twice. What component or system failed or malfunctioned? The Auto Idle Stop (AIS) system and the Starter/Charging System. A service technician recently documented a "slow crank" during routine maintenance, suggesting the battery is unable to handle the restart load. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? …

We recently moved from [redacted] to [redacted]. The first time driving down a mountain the vehicle violently shook when applying the brakes to keep the speed under control. Upon taking it to a Honda service location, the technician revealed hot spots on both front brake rotors. The van has only 21319 miles, and the rotors needed to be replaced with new rotors to make the vehicle safe. The service representative refused to file a warranty claim with Honda because he said "rotors are a wear-and-tear item." The warranty states bumper-to-bumper coverage for 3 years, or 36000 miles, but does not cover normal wear-and-tear. These hot spots were not normal wear-and-tear. …

2024 Odyssey · Sep 2026

I was pulling into a parking spot with my foot on the brake. My 2023 Odyssey van accelerated instead of braking. There is also supposed to be an auto car warning & braking if you are about to hit a car in front of you. None of this happened! In fact, it crashed into the car in front of me. As soon as it started to accelerate, I released the brake and reapplied the brake as hard as I could. It still hit the car in front of me. It didn't look like there was any damage to their car, but I was very shaken up and now I am worried this will happen again. It happened today, April 18, 2024. My mother was in the car and was as shocked and stressed as I am as the van went from very slow to fast. My body is still shaking. I haven't had it inspected yet. I have an appointment on May 1, 2024, to go to Odonnell Honda. The woman receptionist in the service area said I may have had my foot on the gas. …

2023 Odyssey · Apr 2024 · crash

I left my home to go to the house of prayer for prayers and when I came to the stop sign to turn right, my vehicle didn't stop and continued forward which led to crossing the street and over the curb and through the grass of almost fifty feet into the lake. I almost drowned and called 911 to assist me out of the vehicle which was in the lake almost four feet in the water. I am not sure what happened, and I want to report so that if there is any manufacture fault that needs to be addressed to manufacturer then I need to report this incident. The vehicle is at Geico Salvage, and I have reported to Geico Insurance that the Texas Department of Transportation might want to investigate, so they will be holding the vehicle there. If you need to contact me my phone number is[redacted] and my name is [redacted].
