What owners report

The contact owns a 2022 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while their wife was driving approximately 50 -55 MPH, the front passenger side air bag and the curtain air bag, which were expanded from the front passenger seat to the rear passenger seat, suddenly deployed without impact. The sudden deployment caused the driver to immediately stop the vehicle to avoid a further incident. The contact stated their wife had informed them of a pot hole being in the road; however, they could not confirm if the air bags deployed after driving over the pot hole specifically. The driver pulled to the side of the road, and the local police were contacted. A police report was filed. The contact stated that two children had received injuries, one child received a bruise and swelling to the side of their head, and the other child received bruising and scratches to their arms. …

2022 Odyssey · 75,000 miles · Mar 2026 · 5 injuries

While approaching an intersection, a 4 door sedan in front of me rapidly applied their brakes to stop for a yellow light. I did not see they had stopped in time, so I rear ended them. The impact was so severe, the engine from my 2022 Odyssey was pushed into the firewall and most likely is totaled. If the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) initiated, it did not occur before I slammed on my brakes. The airbags also did not deploy. The car is undriveable. I was taken to the hospital and was found to have a hand injury from most likely my hand hitting the dash. My neck has whiplash and upper back/sternum is sore. I am being referred to an orthopedic surgeon for further hand evaluation. I am confused why the CMBS didn't react quicker and/or more aggressively as well as why didn't the airbags deploy?

2022 Odyssey · Jul 2023 · crash · 1 injury

The contact owns a 2021 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while driving at 35 MPH, the passenger's side curtain air bags deployed without incident and without warning. An automated security feature in the vehicle called him immediately upon deployment of the air bags. The contact was asked if he needed assistance from authorities and he informed them that he was ok. The contact was not injured during the failure. The contact was able to drive the vehicle home where it remained in his possession. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 8,000.

2021 Odyssey · 8,000 miles · Aug 2021

The contact owns a 2021 Honda Odyssey. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V064000 (Air Bags). The contact was concerned about driving the vehicle. The contact called the local dealer, who stated that parts for the recall repair were sent to the dealer sporadically. The contact called two other dealers, Honda Marysville Service Center (640 Colemans Crossing Blvd, Marysville, OH 43040), and Germain Honda of Dublin (6715 Sawmill Rd, Dublin, OH 43017). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The contact had not experienced a failure.

2021 Odyssey · Sep 2024

The contact owns a 2020 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while driving during a snow day at approximately 15 MPH, the vehicle lost traction and crashed into a curb on the front driver's side where it came to a stop. The crash was minor. No property damage was on the curb. The air bags deployed with excessive force. No injuries were sustained. The vehicle was taken to a local independent dealer where it was diagnosed that an air bag replacement was needed. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was repaired cosmetically by the insurance provider. The contact believed that the impact to the curb was minor and equivalent to going over a pothole which should not have warranted an air bag deployment. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 93,000.

2020 Odyssey · 93,000 miles · Feb 2025 · crash

In 2020 I was driving in Sequoia national forest and hit a small pothole/erosion hole in front of a gate at approximately 2-3mph. I slightly bottomed out the car. The airbags deployed. Mild abrasion friction burns on my wrist. My wife's airbags in the passenger seat also deployed, but since we had zero forward momentum they didn't even contact her. I was told by Honda that this is my fault and that their airbag system only deployes when it should, and ultimately just filled an insurance claim. I was extremely ignorant of how not road safe my car was, and drive it home. The car was towed for repairs. I just recently learned about this complain line, so I'm submitting now in early 2024.

The contact owns a 2019 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while idled in traffic, the vehicle was rear-ended at approximately 60 MPH. No air bags were deployed. The seat belts retracted as intended during impact, and the lift gate and rear driver's side window were shattered as a result of the crash. In addition, the vehicle occupied one passenger in the front passenger side seat and a second child passenger in the rear row driver's side seat. No warning lights were illuminated. Medical attention was sought for the front passenger for back injuries upon hitting the dashboard during the impact. Medical attention was sought for a strained neck for the driver. The child did not sustain any injuries or seek medical attention. A police report was filed. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was left at the contact residence, where it remained for further investigation. …

While driving, the vehicle stalled at the entrance of the military base. The vehicle was towed to an auto body repair facility. The vehicle was being recalibrated. The air bag light was illuminated. The mechanic determined there was an issue with the seat belt pretensioner. The mechanic determined that the air bag sensor was not hit during the crash.
