What owners report

I was stopped at a red light. When the light turned green, I stepped on the gas pedal to proceed forward. The vehicle suddenly stopped and shifted into Park on its own. The emergency brake light also came on, and the vehicle would not move. I attempted several times to shift the vehicle back into Drive, but it would not move. I continued shifting between Park and Drive and attempting to release the brake until the vehicle eventually allowed me to move. Because the vehicle would not move when the light turned green, another vehicle struck my vehicle. This created a serious safety risk because I was unable to move the vehicle when traffic began proceeding through the intersection, resulting in a collision. There were no warning lights, messages, or other symptoms before the incident. The vehicle unexpectedly did this without warning. …

My wife was driving our 2025 Honda Odyssey on [redacted] on a neighborhood road around [redacted]. She came to a stop sign and stopped to turn right. Upon accelerating to turn right, the emergency braking system activated slamming on the brakes and bringing the vehicle to an immediate stop. There were no other cars, pedestrians or other obstacles with any line of sight. The sudden stop caused her to whiplash hurting her shoulder. We brought the vehicle to Joyce Koons Honda of Manassas. They downloaded the data and confirmed that the emergency braking system had activated but there were no reason codes given. They couldn't find any other issue and test drove the vehicle for 10 miles with no incident. My wife was really shaken up by the incident and refuses to drive the car until an actual cause is found and fixed.

2025 Odyssey · Automatic emergency braking · Sep 2025 · crash · 1 injury

While driving straight on the highway on a sunny day the car left the lane on it's own, resisted attempts to get it back into the lane, and crashed into the concrete barrier after we swerved around and the car bounced around. Lane keeping assistance and automatic cruise control were active. The lane lines looked perfectly fine. A couple minutes before the accident the car left the lane unexpectedly but we were able to get back into it. Before going on the trip we took the car to the dealer and complained about issues with the car not starting after it shut off while idle at stop lights, or not starting properly, like engaging the parking brake and getting stuck, or starting and rocketing forward even when I only pressed lightly on the gas, leading to loss of traction. …

At speed less than 25 mph, the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) did not work. At cross roads this CMBS will not work when a vehicle comes from the side. This will work only if it detects the vehicle's presence in front for more than 3-5 seconds. Will not activate during sudden presence of vehicle at any speed.

This vehicle has a feature that displays the posted speed limit on the dash display. The dealership, McGrath Honda in St. Charles, IL has told me this information is gathered by the camera system. Periodically the vehicle will pick up the Highway number sign and use that to display the speed limit. In the attached pictures it shows that we were driving on Highway 110 in Illinois and then the display showed that the speed limit was 10 MPH, which then changed to 110 MPH. Another example, for which we don't have pictures, was when we were driving on Highway 38 in Illinois and the display shows a speed limit of 35 MPH. When this occurred we were not familiar with the area and slowed to 35MPH which caused vehicles behind us to slow down, get very irritated, demonstrate their irritation using hand signals, etc. We resumed the real speed limit, 55MPH after we saw the next speed limit sign. …

I was pulling into a parking spot with my foot on the brake. My 2023 Odyssey van accelerated instead of braking. There is also supposed to be an auto car warning & braking if you are about to hit a car in front of you. None of this happened! In fact, it crashed into the car in front of me. As soon as it started to accelerate, I released the brake and reapplied the brake as hard as I could. It still hit the car in front of me. It didn't look like there was any damage to their car, but I was very shaken up and now I am worried this will happen again. It happened today, April 18, 2024. My mother was in the car and was as shocked and stressed as I am as the van went from very slow to fast. My body is still shaking. I haven't had it inspected yet. I have an appointment on May 1, 2024, to go to Odonnell Honda. The woman receptionist in the service area said I may have had my foot on the gas. …
