When my kids and I were a hit and run accident. We were struck on the drivers side of the van. The side curtain airbags didn't deploy.
Vehicle with driver only was traveling west on i80 a couple of miles before the sf oak bay bridge in the far left lane going approx 60 miles per hour (5 MPH below posted limit) in heavy traffic. Car in adjacent right lane darted into the left lane in front of me to avoid an accident and slammed on his brakes at the same time. I hit the brakes immediately and the ABS engaged but since the car trying to avoid the accident, imact occured at a speed less than 60 MPH. Car behind me slammed into my back end. There was significant impact to the front and rear of the vehicle. I was wearing my seat belt which I beleive helped save my life but injuries did occur. I sustained serious head (concussion), neck (muscle strain) and back (spinal nerve damage). …
My 2006 Odyssey was hit on the passenger 2nd row by a vehicle that ran a stop sign and sustained significant damage to the 2nd row passenger side. The impact caused the Odyssey to spin and was pushed at least 20 feet before being stopped by the curb. My wife was driving and she sustained minor injuries- no one was in the 2nd row thankfully. When I viewed the condition of the vehicle, there was no question in my mind that the side curtain airbag should have deployed. However, after inquiring further to verify this assumption, I discovered that no airbag was deployed. I was shocked to learn this. The side curtain airbag should have deployed and did not. I consider this to be a malfunction, and I am informing you of it as such. In my opinion this is a matter of public safety because a side curtain air bag should deploy when vehicle is hit hard and directly on its side. …
On 4 nov 06 at approximately 1128 my vehicle was involved with a front impact crash and the following safety defects occurred causing personal injury. The details of the incident are as follows: weather: clear road conditions: dry level grade speed: approx 35 MPH vehicle was traveling down 2 lane secondary road when another vehicle pulled in front of it. My vehicle impacted the other one in the left rear quadrant. The damage to my Odyssey was directly on the front grill and bumper area. The frontal airbags failed to deploy and both front seat belts were dislodged from the mounts located on the inside door post. I think the airbags should have deployed and the seat belts were defective. Both of the items were replaced by dealership and airbag was found to be defective. Part numbers listed below. …
Tl contact owns a 2006 Honda Odyssey. While driving 40 MPH in traffic the vehicle in front of her crashed into another vehicle. When she engaged the brakes, the vehicle continued to accelerate causing her to crash into the vehicle in front of her. The vehicle was damaged on the front end. She did not sustain any injures. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed. The entire front end of her vehicle was repaired. She referenced recall 10V504000, service brakes, hydraulic:foundation components:master cylinder and stated that the recall was directly related to her failure. The VIN was unavailable. The approximate failure mileage was 42,000 and the current mileage was 49,000. Updated 3/14/11 the consumer stated the vehicle had to be taken back to the repair shop, because the vehicle would not stop. It was discovered air was in the brakes. Updated 05/05/11
Mva occurred 1/16/2015 - impact left front quarter. Had trouble opening driver's door. Steering column airbag deployed. However, driver's side curtain airbag did not deploy resulting in head trauma as driver's head hit the driver's side window. Impact should have set off side curtain airbag sensors. Vehicle was totaled & sold by insurance company without dealer inspection of problem. I would not have thought twice about it had it not been brought to my attention by article about recent Honda airbag recalls. I believe that these incidents are under reported and that there are more "failure to deploy" than those listed under complaints. Please contact for police report....updated 02/11/15
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 Honda Odyssey. When the vehicle was started, the air bag indicator remained illuminated. The failure recurred every time the vehicle was started without warning. The contact called a dealer who stated that there was no recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
None of the side curtain airbags deployed. Van was hit hard in front drivers side. The side airbags barely cracked the casings and didn't deploy out as designed. This happened on both the left and right side. A child was sitting behind the driver.
