I purchased FOUR (size 245/60R18) Firestone Destination LE2 tires on May 2, 2019 from my Ford Dealer (Washington Ford) to replace original equipment tires that were wearing down. Mileage on the car at the time was 22047. The tires were rotated on November 22, 2019 (mileage on odometer was 27687 or 5600 miles since purchased), the tire were rotated next on November 11, 2020 (mileage on odometer was 34465 or 12,400 miles since tire purchased). Currently the odometer reads 42,365 and all 4 tires have 5/32" tread depth as measured by the Firestone Dealer on 9/23/2021. Essentially the tires have 20,000 miles on them and are wearing out prematurely for a tire with a 500 treadwear rating and a supposed 60,000 mile warranty. The car has noticeably less traction and has hydroplaned twice during rain events while travelling on the Interstate roads during the pas 14 days. …
I purchased this vehicle used from a dealership and I have had it for six months and now I was going to replace the break shoes front and back. Now the problem came when I tried to remove the lug nuts and I could not! Ford decided to put metal caps over all lug nuts and failed to tell the customers that they can not get them off with the standard equipment given by factory. There is no lug wrench or socket that will fit the lug nuts with the caps on them. Here is the "rub" I called the dealership and the service technician said " to get a oversized socket and bang it on and then remove each lug nut , then replace all of them with new ones without the caps on them." WOW. Ford has to know that this is a issue everyone that owns one has the same issue. …
Two-piece Ford OEM lug nuts, used on numerous Ford models and years, are notorious for swelling, rendering them unremovable with a standard lug nut wrench. Although the issue is well-known by people in the auto and auto parts industries, it is not generally known by the average Ford owner. This places the driver of such a vehicle at risk of being stranded, unable to replace a flat tire with the spare tire, and subject to an extended period of the risks associated with disabled vehicles beside busy roadways. It also subjects them to a towing, or roadside service, expense that would otherwise be unnecessary. …
I went to have tires rotated and an alignment done to the 2016 Edge. The mechanic came in and told me we had a problem with the lug nuts have enlarged and they could not get them off and when they would get them off they would be damaged and not be able to put the back on the car. They had to force the tool on the lug nuts to get them off. Some of them the caps were loose when they got them off too. I had to spend 68.00 to get new lugs so i could get out of the place. They showed me and they were severely out of shape and were not safe. I am a widow who takes car of father and if we would have had problems on the road i would not of been able to change the tire. Something needs to be done about this. I checked the ford website and see manny people have complained over the same issue. So let me know what you plan to do about this dangerous issue!
The coolant is leaking into the engine area. Causing repeated coil failures and misfire and i assume damage to engine. I believe engine block needs to repaired or replaced. Also, during both dry and especially slippery/wet conditions... my vehicle is veering to both sides on its own while driving .my hands are on wheel going straight and it just drifts, slips and slides. Afraid I'm going to crash. No warning lights. Might be esc and or abs systems. It seems these are known issues for this year make and model but these recalls and warnings for some reason are not attached to my VIN. I need them attached to my VIN so that I can take to Ford dealership for repair before these system failures kill me.
Lug nuts are 2 piece: The thread piece and the chrome head piece. The pieces became loose from each other, then the thread piece rusted and caused the chrome piece to swell and deform so the lug wrench could no longer fit on the lugnut, thus making it impossible to loosen. This can be a major problem when changing a flat tire. I needed to take my car to an auto mechanic to have several of the factory installed lugnuts replaced. I will need to buy replacement non-OEM lugnuts so this doesn't happen any more. I read that this is a problem happening on many Ford vehicles.
My lugs nuts have expanded on my vehicle and I cannot get my wheels off. What happens if while unable to change a flat tire on the highway due to the lug nuts stuck on the the car I get hit and killed? Ford needs to accept the responsibility on this safety defect and replace the lug nuts at no charge. This has also created an issue with me being able to have my brakes checked during my oil changes.
When getting tires rotated found out that the lug nuts on my wheels had expanded and had to get them removed by force. Found out this has been occurring to other Ford vehicles for years. Now I have replacement lug nuts that extend too far out and if hitting a curb or something would definitely ruin the wheel. Should not be having this type of issue at my expense for faulty lug nuts.
