What owners report
I am reporting multiple safety-related defects on my 2025 Toyota Tundra (approx. 18.5k miles, purchased 07/25). Toyota has been made aware and has not resolved these issues. The most serious defect is deterioration of the driver-side air intake housing. While replacing the air filters, I observed the airbox shedding internal material directly onto the engine air filter. This is not external debris and there are no signs of rodent intrusion, indicating internal component breakdown. This vehicle shares the V35A engine platform, which is subject to recall for debris contamination leading to main bearing failure, engine stall, and loss of drive power. The presence of internally generated debris upstream of the engine creates a credible risk of engine damage or sudden failure while driving. …
- A dealership in DFW replaced the drive seat frame in truck due to metal creaking while driving. After the replacement everything was fine until my friend hit her toe against driver side seat frame covered by felt tape. From the factory the truck comes with plastic frame guards to prevent injury to rear passengers but Toyota has failed to fix the issue several times. I recently found out that all Tundra's with powered seats have this safety issue as I was talking to dealer employee who recently purchased a 2024 Tundra then we walked the lot and every single higher trim Tundra with powered seats all have this felt tape over the metal substructure. The felt tape provides no shock absorbing properties resulting in bruising when a rear passenger tries to exit the truck wearing open toe shoes.
The driver's side front seat lower plastic shield/trim panel completely fractured under normal, everyday usage conditions. The material failed and cracked into sharp, jagged pieces that protrude out into the cabin entryway/exitway. While exiting the vehicle at approximately 57,00, this broke plastic snagged and nearly caused a severe puncture or laceration injury to my leg. The component houses seat controls and sits adjacent to the side airbag module. Toyota has acknowledged this design flaw in Technical Service Bulletin T-SB-0007-24, but the component has fractured into a sharp, physical hazard inside the cabin, creating an immediate risk of occupant injury. Bottomline: The factory driver-side seat panel broke into sharp pieces and caused imminent leg injury hazard during vehicle exit.
The driver side front seat side shield panel cracked two months after vehicle was purchased new. It was replaced under warranty at the Toyota dealership. It cracked again three months later and was replaced again by the Toyota dealership. About 3-4 months later, it cracked again and was replaced by the Toyota dealership. This was on 04-21-23. On June 29, 2023, it cracked again for the fourth time. Dealership so far has not agreed to replace it under warranty and we are pursuing warranty claim with Toyota headquarters. I have owned 5 Toyota trucks and never have had this problem. When the front seat side shield panel cracks, it is a plastic part inside that is breaking. It is probably occurring when entering and exiting the vehicle possibly sliding across the side edge of the seat. There are several of the same problems with the seat posted on the internet for this truck. …
Since around 35,000 miles, the 10-way Power Adjustable Driver's Seat makes a terrible squeaky sound when going over any bumps in the road. If the Driver were to move while in the seat, the squeak is present. We have already paid out of pocket (not considered a warranty issue because nothing is "broken"), but the squeak has returned. This is no fault of the dealership, but because of the design that Toyota implemented for just the 10-way Power Adjustable Driver's Seat. If we reduce the Lumbar Support down to its lowest setting, the squeak gets better but it makes the seat that much more uncomfortable. These are the worst seats we've ever had in any vehicle, let alone a Toyota/Lexus product. I do believe the seat structure to have cracked at this point in time. Vehicle is currently in for service.
I've taken my truck in 3 times for a problem with the driver seat having excessive play. Whenever I stop at a light or pull off the seat rocks back and forth. Each time I've taken it in to the dealership they tell me that it is a seat track issue and that if I raise my seat the play will lessen? I've tried that and it still didn't correct the issue. This problem has gotten progressively worse and I'm worried that the seat is going to collapse completely one day when I stop or pull off. I've driven different Tundras of friends and relatives and those trucks don't have this problem. I feel like this is a major safety issue and Toyota should correct this issue or replace the seat track. The first time took it in for this issue was on 7-12-2021 and the last time I took it in for this issue was 23-Jan-2024 .
The seat has been loose since I first purchased the truck, first time at the dealer they said it was the cushion which it wasn't and they ordered part and it didn't fix the situation. The next oil change I took it in and they said it was the frame, bottom of seat, and they ordered one and it's been on back order a year now or thereabouts. Now I've owned the truck for over a year and a half and still no resolution. If an accident occurs will the seat completely break and fling me out of the vehicle? Anyhow multiple phone calls to dealership and now a phone call to Toyota themselves has yielded no resolution.
The drivers side front seat. The heated seat over heats. The seat left a quarter size blister on my right side buttocks. I do have a case number with Toyota. The vehicle has been inspected by one of Toyota's field agents. I'm still waiting on the results. I can provide you with all of the complete details. My contact information.
