My wife and I own a 1999 Plymouth Voyager minivan. We have had several failures that cause us concern about the manufacturer's quality control during production of this vehicle. Most recently, the airbag warning light began to come on for no apparent reason while we were driving normally. Most of the time, it would go back off, but sometimes it would stay on until the vehicle ignition was turned off. On April 27, 2004, we had to have the "clockspring" replaced on this vehicle to correct this problem. The cost of this repair was $180.96. The person in the service department in the Chrysler dealership that performed the repair told me that this part has failed on many of these type minivans. Given the large number of failures of this part, it is my opinion that it should have been replaced under an extended warranty by the manufacturer.

The air bag light lit up, and shortly afterwards, the cruise control and horn stopped working. The dealer advisor called me and said that the clock spring would have to be replaced. A couple hours later, he called me and informed me that the wires in the airbag had overheated and the entire air bag assembly would now have to be replaced. The company reimbursed me last month for the clock spring, which they said was recalled. However, I feel that I should also be reimbursed for the airbag assembly, since it was connected to the clockspring. This is a major safety issue that has affected many other consumers with this same vehicle. The dealer advisor gave us the clock spring as we requested, but said that they could not give us the air bag, since it needed to be sent to Chrysler for failure analysis.

Tl* the contact owns a 1998 Plymouth Grand Voyager. While driving at various speeds, the horn failed to function and the air bag light remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was informed that the clock spring failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 04V480000 (air bags). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

While driving at 35 MPH the air bag deployed inadvertently. In the process, consumer's vehicle rear ended another vehicle. Then, vehicle was towed to the dealer, who, in return, towed the vehicle back to consumer's home not repaired. The damages sustained from the collision were not repaired because consumer only had liability insurance.

In 2005 while entering onto the highway going home from some personal appointments a small car hit our full size van from behind and caused us to flip over and roll over 8 times and slide at least 2 city blocks before it stopped. We were not even doing the speed limit when we were hit. The front window shattered and glass was in our eyes but our airbags did not deploy. We were stuck upside down my seat belt was stuck and my husband had to pull me out of the driver side window. I had to treat for tmj problems, stress and trauma in my neck and back for a few years and I still have some issues. Do we have a claim against the manufacturer?

1997 Grand Voyager · 73,000 miles · Oct 2005 · crash · 2 injuries

I got in the van in my driveway and turned the ignition switch on then I noticed that the air bag light was on. So I turned the ignition switch off waited a minute then turned it back on and the light was still on. I thought it was a fuse so I proceeded to my destination. As I arrived at my mom's house I tried to blow the horn, then I found out that my horn did not work. So I turned the van off and I called a friend who is a mechanic and he asked me if the air bag light stayed on even after I turned the van on and off I said yes then I explained everything to him. He told me that I needed to try my cruise control. And if it did not work then my clockspring is gone. Well cruise control did not work. And the airbag light is still on.
