Fuel system, gasoline › Fuel injection system
Vehicle description: Mini vans built with 3.3l and 3.8l engines have fuel rails with nitrole rubber o-ring seals that can degrade over time. Fuel leakage from the underhood fuel injection fuel rail could result, increasing the likelihood of a vehicle fire.

My daughters (ages 5 and 2) were sitting in the front seat of my van and hit the gear shift and knocked it into gear and the van rolled into my brother-in laws truck almost pinning me between the two vehicles.
While driving our 2003 Plymouth Grand Voyager (with 72000 miles) we heard a loud bang from under the front of the car. Transmission fluid was found under the car. We had the car towed to the dealership and learned the transmission pin had broken. We were informed this is a common problem, more than 30 remanufactured transmissions are on back order. The cost of the reparis is significant and we cannot be guaranteed when the parts wil become available. I called Chrysler/Plymouth to determine if there was a recall and there is not. In their opinion, it is not a significant issue. How do we, as consumers, make this issue known to ensure a recall notice is issued and the proper repairs are made? God forbid this problem occurred on a busy highway!

In wet conditions, the serpentine belt of our 2000 Chrysler Grand Voyager minivan comes off with no warning. The problem is intermittent and unpredictable (though always wet). When it does slip off, the driver is left in a deadly situation as all power steering is lost. This has happened to us approximately 10 times over the past year or so. We've replaced the belt twice, the pulley wheel, the tensioner, and the motor mounts. We've also had a plate installed under the motor to try to keep road moisture off of the belt system. I've now learned that this is so common a problem that the gates corporation has manufactured a repair/replacement belt system for these vans (which I just purchased). It's interesting that the gates corporation acknowledges the problem, but the Chrysler/Dodge company hasn't issued a recall or offered any type of recourse for customers. …
I have a 2000 Chrysler Grand voyage, currently with 136000 miles on it. Any time there seems to be a bit of a wet condition, that leads to the serpentine belt coming off. It happened on 3/12/2007, in nov 2006, in sept 2006, in aug 2006, during the summer of 2005, and summer of 2004(original belt). With the number of systems controlled by that belt, this is a safety hazard. The reports seem to be that the belt is very prone to slipping off. In the nov 2006 repair, the shop said I needed a water pump because the bearings were worn and the shaft was out of alignment. I wonder if that could have been caused by the serpentine belt walking, putting odd stresses on the shaft. A large washer, part of a repair kit for the problem, was installed on the tensioner in September, but that has not ended the problem. It's overly sensitive to wet conditions - which at times simply cannot be avoided.
Electrical system
My 2000 Chrysler Grand Voyager's engine burst into flames and almost the whole front end of my car, including my dash board and part of my front seats were burned up. The windshield and the windows on the passenger and driver's side in the front blew out. I suffered from smoke inhalation and did end up going to the emergency room. I also have pulled something in my back and arms that has made my arms from the elbows to the hands go painfully numb and prickly. In addition, I seemed to have caused a hemorrage in my uterus. My period is not due for about a week or a bit more. It is labor day weekend and I haven't been able to see a regular doctor yet. …
This letter is regarding a manufacturer defect in the 2000 Plymouth Grand Voyager and 2000 Chrysler town and country vans. There is an issue with the vehicles in wet weather. When it rains and the driver goes through water, the vehicles shut themselves down completely. Lights turn off, power steering is arrested, and the driver has to coast to a stop. This has happened several times to my parents, and more than once, they have had to secure the services of a towing company to get the vehicle(s) home or to a repair shop. This has happened at night on two-lane highways, leaving them stranded in pitch-black darkness. These are the only vehicles that my parents have to drive to and from work, which is an hour and a half away from home. My father has visited the Chrysler-Dodge dealership several times, and they told him that this is a large-scale problem with these particular models of vans. …
