What owners report
The car was driving fine all along. Then in the everning when I started to drive, I noticed the transmission can't shift up and the speedometer is gone, and the transmission warning light turns on. Dealer called back and wanted to charge $150 for diagnostic service because they claimed to have 3 problems. Obviously this is all related so trying to rack up on diagnostic is noticed. Then they reported that the problem was a malfunction transmission control module which also shorted out the input and output speed sensors. The total repair bill is $600. And the car has only 52K miles. Spoke to chrsyler customer assistance. They do not admit it is a component or design defect. And they will not reimburst or pay for the repair.
There is a recall on Plymouth voyagers 1998 and older doing the same things my 2000 is doing, which is not under recall. The specific problems are: the airbag light has been on constantly for 6 weeks and for the past month the horn does not honk and the cruise control doesn't turn on. I'm very concerned about what exactly is wrong with the airbags, now that I know there is a recall issue for older models. I have not attempted to have it repaired, because I cannot afford to take it to the dealer for repair.
1999 Plymouth Grand Voyager. VIN [redacted]. The subject vehicle has had a failure of the clock spring mechanism (according to the dealer). This has resulted in the failure of the air bag deployment (along with cruise control and horn). Chrysler has admitted this problem exists (via recall) with 1996-1998 vehicles but will not fix 1999 vehicles. Your web site exhibits numerous instance of this failure on 1999 vehicles. How do I go about getting a known problem with this failure to be acknowledged and fixed by Chrysler? I consider this a serious safety issue that should be taken care of by Chrysler regardless of auto mileage.
1999 Plymouth Grand Voyager se - airbag light came on at 72000 miles. I found that daimler-Chrysler had a safety recall on 1996-1998 Plymouth vans because the clockspring was not installed properly in the steering column. Causing the airbag to become inoperable, the horn and cruise control to also stop working. I found on a Plymouth forum that many other 1999 van owners have had the same problems. When I called Chrysler, they said the recall did not cover the 1999 van and that they would not extend the safety recall.
Multiple collisions, non-family member driving car. Driver had an epileptic seizure and blacked out. Apparently accelerated the Mini van and rear ended a Dodge Ram pickup truck twice, and then ran into a telephone pole. Both air bags deployed. Driver wakened from accident. The right front passenger's seat, however, was up against the dashboard after the accident. Chrysler sent out an engineer to look at seat. It was pinned against the dashboard and will not move. Our concern is obvious. What would have happened in an accident with a passenger in the seat? Pictures are available via e-mail if requested. Car was considered "totalled"by the insurance company. Car is located at pulera alrikas collision center kenosha, wi 53144.
Two weeks ago I noticed my air bag light was staying on. We also found out that the horn and the cruise control stopped working. We have checked all the fuses and found out through the my car stats web site this same problem was part of a recall involving a clock spring problem. Since no dealer in my area will honor this recall it is still broken.
When van was hit by another vehicle, on the passenger's side at a high rate of speed, there was no deployment of the passenger's front air bag. Also, horn does not work, remote entry on driver's side door does not work, air bag warning light stays on, fuel gauges does not work, A/C heater blink on and off, inside dome light blinks on and off, steering column freezes, cruise control works on and off.
Dt: the vehicle speed control stuck at 45 MPH on September 2, 2005. The consumer was able to get the vehicle to stop by turning the key off. The consumer unhooked the cruise control cable, and he has not had any more problems since this. When the mechanic looked at the vehicle he found that one of the cable strands broke. The consumer is currently waiting for the replacement part.
