Wire connector under the passenger seat disables the airbag and turns on the SRS light with the code B0028-13 Right side Airbag circuit open. I have noticed that FCA is aware of the problem as the fix is to replace the wire Connectors under the seat. As an alignment mechanic I am in and out of a lot of vehicles and just about all of the 2015 to 2017 Chrysler 200s I have worked on have this code, some also have B0020-13 which is the left side seat air bag circuit open.
Air bag light comes on. We have had it checked by 3 different technicians. They have found that it is an issue with the control module, and seat squibs need to be replaced. This is a $4000 issue that is directly related to the safety of the driver of the car. They said it looks to be a manufacturing issue but unfortunately is not covered by the extended warranty that we purchased.
The contact owns a 2015 Chrysler 200. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, he noticed smoke coming from underneath the front driver's seat. The contact stated that he then saw flames underneath the driver's seat. The contact was able to extinguish the fire with a water hose. An unknown warning light was illuminated. There was no injury sustained. No fire department report was filed. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that he was a mechanic and upon taking the driver's seat apart, he determined that the seat heater failure had caused the fire. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
My vehicle has been recalled but I'm noticing problems with my transmission when in switching gears. Sometimes it shifts into neutral, my radio shuts off periodically and my seat fills a lot thinner then the passenger seat. My air bag sensors pops on as well as the gas cap sensor and I just replaced the gas cap 2 months ago.
The contact owns a 2014 Chrysler 200. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, he noticed that the front passenger's side headrest had deployed without incident. The dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 83,000. The VIN was not available.
A couple of years ago my passenger head restraint deployed while parked and would not reset. I was charged $652.00 to re place. Chrysler later reimbursed me for this expense and extended my warranty for this for one year. Two days ago the driver side activated while the car was parked. That means the warrant extension had passed. Did some research and this is a common problem caused by the weakening of the plastic that is under pressure of the retaining springs. This problem not only affects the Chrysler 200, but 300s and several keep and Dodge vehicles manufactured between 2010 and 2015. It is just by the grace of God no one has been injured. Mileage was 78000 the first time and 106500 the second time

The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the front passenger's side seat headrest deployed and struck the back of the head of the front passenger seat occupant. Additionally, the contact stated that the front driver's side seat headrest deployed while the contact was occupying the seat on another occasion. There were no injuries sustained by the driver or passenger seat occupant. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the cause of the failure could not be determined. The dealer was charging a fee for the headrests replacement, but the contact declined to pay for the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V640000 (Seats, Air Bags); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. …

The contact's fianc looked inside the vehicle and discovered that the front passenger's side headrest had exploded and separated. The front passenger's side headrest air bag had been deployed.
