What owners report
While driving down the interstate my car jumped a little then I could not go above 20 miles and hour. Once I arrived to a safe location I turned off my engine and then restarted. It seemed ok, but during the incident there was a flash on my dash that said "CHECK THROTTLE". I took it to a service station and they ran a code check on the vehicle. They stated the following: 1. ECM (Engine Control Module) 2. TCM (Transmission Control Module) 3. ORC (Air Bag/Occupant Restraint) My car is a 2017 Chrysler 200 VIN [redacted]. It has 55,600 miles on it, actual miles. Due to these error codes the mechanic stated I need to take the car to a dealership to have them fixed. [redacted]
For years now, my car has randomly, without notice, stalls, says "Shift To P" and goes limp. There's nothing I can do in that moment besides try to get to safety before the car stops in the middle of the road. I've brought it in multiple times with no change or information as to what's causing it. One dealership claimed I just needed an oil change which it didn't but to prove my point, I brought it in after it stalled 2-3 days after an oil change. At this point, there's been zero help or care. It's only a matter of time until it causes an accident. Other owners definitely have this issue as well since they're reported on here too. Any help? Or do all of us just lose money or potentially more...?
I have two Chrysler vehicles of the same timeframe. This 200 C and a 2017 Pacifica. Both of them have the 3.6 L Penta star V6. Both of them have had the same problem. Where the oil filter goes it is a plastic housing that goes to a metal oil cooler assembly. That housing becomes dry and brittle due to heat and cracks causing significant oil leaks. The van had to be repaired by the dealer at the cost of almost $1100. My 200 C started smoking real bad and actually had a small fire start on the back side of the engine that I was thankfully able to put out real quick. This is a known problem and from what I understand Chrysler has re-engineered these parts. This has been happening to a lot of these vehicles. I believe Chrysler should be forced to repair these vehicles via recall. This is ridiculous. …

My wife and daughters almost died in a car accident due to the apparent failure of this vehicle. We were driving on an HWY at night and the car just died out of nowhere. Dash started to flash and just died. We initially thought that it was the mechanic that had just fixed the car but after an investigation concluded that it was not anything they could have done. My family sustained life-threatening injuries and almost did not make it out alive as thee were rear-ended by a truck. Then on top of it when they were hit no airbags deployed which is what caused the injuries to be so much worse. After reading multiple complaints on NHTSA about the same issue for the same year and make I am baffled that this issue has not been addressed. I almost lost my family.
The contact owns a 2014 Chrysler 200. The contact stated that while driving 50 MPH on the highway, the vehicle stalled, and the vehicle turned off independently. The contact was able to coast over to the right side of the road, and attempted to restart the vehicle, and the vehicle started as intended. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to AAA where it was diagnosed and determined that the totally integrated power module (TIPM) needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the horn was connected to the module. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and offered no assistance. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 106,000.
