I woke up to my car on fire and Toyota is saying they don't know what happened but they're also saying it wasn't their fault I've never seen a brand new car just randomly set on fire and then nobody really look for any answers I just put brand new tires on the car the day before it burnt up I'm currently behind on my car payments because of the financial strain this whole situation put me in because on top of a divorce I wasn't prepared to go and buy another car I've just stopped living in my current car and got an apartment because of the financial strain that this is caused and I wasn't given any kind of reimbursement or assistance even with the tires that I just bought I feel like Toyota knows something that they're not telling me and I deserve to be compensated
The contact owns a 2023 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that after a routine oil service, while driving at various speeds with the cruise control activated, the safety feature on the front camera failed to display or provide a clear warning as intended. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the front camera needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
I turned into a restaurant's parking lot, found a spot and slowly drove into the lot, I eased off the gas pedal and gently applying the brake as the lot has a slight downward slope. When I reach the chunk (the parking block), I added more force to the brake, but I felt the brake pedal just sank, and the car lurched ahead, jumped over the chunk, and stopped at the curb which startled me. After I recovered, I put the car in reverse to return it to the right position (back up from the overrun chunk), everything seemed back to normal condition after that. Luckily, all occupants were unhurt, airbag was not deployed. I inspected the car after parking properly, there didn't seem any visible damage to the vehicle, although I couldn't see the chassis system which I believed must had a few scratches on the underside. …
Since the day this brand new car rolled off of the lot, I noticed an issue with the Android Auto usage via the infotainment system. Roughly between 5 and 15 times throughout a 30 minute drive the map will glitch and freeze and so will any music being streamed via android auto. This happens no matter which phone or cable is connected. This is EXTREMELY annoying and distracting to me when driving and frankly inexcusable for a brand new 2022 car with 0 miles on it that i bought 8 months ago and it still does this to this day. Also, the Rear Camera Detection system often fails saying that there is dirt on the camera when there clearly isn't any. Finally the key fob sometimes fails to work. The dealer could not figure out the problem and would not fix it. …
The contact owns a 2021 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while attempting to park her vehicle in her apartment complex parking lot, her vehicle continued to lurch forward without warning despite multiple attempts to stop. Due to the failure, the contact hit a gate as the vehicle continued to independently accelerate. The contact then placed the vehicle into reverse(R) and as the vehicle continued to accelerate in a different gear. The contact then hit the vehicle behind her which then caused that vehicle to hit another vehicle located next to the original vehicle that was hit. The vehicle continued to accelerate with her brake pedal depressed to the floorboard. The contact then placed the vehicle back into driver(D) which sent the vehicle into another gate which then finally stopped the vehicle. …
The contact owns a 2021 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the transmission and power steering failed to operate as designed. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle acceleration and the power steering functions were sluggish. Upon investigation, the contact read the safety manual and discovered that the type of battery placed in the vehicle did not have adequate voltage. The contact initially took the vehicle to Mike Erdman Toyota (4650 FL-520, Cocoa, FL 32926) where they offered no assistance and stated that the vehicle operated as designed. The contact then took the vehicle to another dealer where she was informed that the battery needed a boost, which was performed on the vehicle. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. …
The contact owns a 2020 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the front end of the vehicle made abnormal exploding sounds and there was smoke coming from under the hood. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the battery had exploded, and the battery was replaced. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the message "Pre-collision Warning Malfunction" was intermittently displayed. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving on another occasion, the message "Maintenance Required" and messages indicating the Pre-collision, Anti-Lock and ABS malfunction, and to contact the nearest dealer were displayed. The contact also stated that an alarm persistently sounded. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was determined that the failure was due to rodents damaging electrical wires. …
The contact owns a 2020 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was not diagnosed. The contact was informed that the engine oil was changed, and the oil warning light was reset. The mechanic informed the contact that the wiring harness had been damaged due to rodent activity and needed to be replaced. Additionally, the contact reported an issue with the battery draining. The vehicle was diagnosed with a battery failure, and the battery was replaced several times; however, the check engine warning light was occasionally illuminated. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 18,000. The VIN was not available.
