What owners report
The contact owns a 2024 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the braking system erroneously activated, causing the vehicle to decelerate unintendedly. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was contacted, and a field representative was sent to the dealer to examine the vehicle. During the diagnostic test, the vehicle control history report stated that the accelerator pedal and brake pedal had been depressed simultaneously and was caused by driver error. The contact stated that driver error was not the cause of the failure. Additionally, while operating the vehicle, the Lane Departure feature malfunctioned, causing the vehicle to erroneously steer into the opposite lane of oncoming traffic. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The vehicle was not repaired. …
I own a 2024 Toyota Camry LE. The vehicle has an intermittent and unpredictable hesitation when I press the accelerator. At times, the vehicle does not respond normally to accelerator input and hesitates before providing power. After the hesitation, the vehicle can suddenly surge forward. This creates a significant safety concern because predictable acceleration is necessary when merging into traffic, entering an intersection, making a turn, or accelerating from a stop. I have experienced situations where I could not rely on the vehicle to accelerate when needed, followed by an unexpected surge in acceleration. The problem appears to involve the vehicle's powertrain/transmission and/or its electronic control system, although I cannot identify the specific cause. …
The contact owned a 2023 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 30 MPH there would be a loud noise emitting from the rear-end of the vehicle that seemed as if the vehicle was running rough. The contact stated that while being idle at a red light the vehicle suddenly surged forward crashing into the vehicle in front. The air bags in the front and rear of the vehicle deployed on both the driver and passenger side. The vehicle was towed and deemed totaled. A police report was made. The contact received an injury to their stomach, knee, and hip bone. A passenger in the vehicle received neck and back injuries. Medical attention was needed. The dealer was not made aware of the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 1,900.
The contact owns a 2023 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while attempting to exit the driveway at an undisclosed speed, the engine unexpectedly revved, and the vehicle accelerated forward, striking a trash bin. The contact stated that depressing the brake pedal caused the engine to rev higher. Upon shifting into Reverse (R), the vehicle unexpectedly accelerated at a high rate of speed, striking and knocking down three trees on the property. Depressing the brake pedal again while in reverse(R) similarly caused the engine to rev higher. The collisions resulted in heavy denting on all sides of the vehicle and significant undercarriage damage. The vehicle was towed to a body shop. The failure mileage was 12,000.
Was driving at night going around a curve when the car jerked left sending vehicle into a spin. Hit bridge guard rail and car is a total loss. Toyota has a known issue with this LDA system in this condition. This is very dangerous system that Toyota needs to improve function.
Uncontrollable Sudden Acceleration 3 times while I drove the car, it suddenly and rapidly accelerated. Eventually, the car crashed and was totaled. The first time was 3/31/25 when my wife and I went to the car wash. To exit the car wash, I put the car in drive and lightly applied the accelerator pedal and suddenly the car accelerated rapidly and made a loud noise. I immediately braked and the car went back to normal. Over 3 years nothing like this happened before. The 2nd time was only 8 days later. On 4/8/25, I was driving the car at moderate speed in the center lane of a large street and while changing from the middle lane to the right lane to prepare to turn right at the next street, the car started accelerating rapidly and to make a loud noise. Fortunately, I was able to brake and the car went back to normal. …
Driving very slowly into my 36 foot deep garage I took my right foot off the accelerator pedal when the 2021 Toyota Camry suddenly unintended accelerated forward 15 feet and crashed through the rear garage wall, the automatic brake didn't work,. Then with my foot on the brake pedal, it continued at high speed across 35 feet of concrete patio and came to rest on top of thick hedge with front wheels spinning off the ground. I then shut the engines off. I believe this accident was caused by 'Sudden Unintended Acceleration", a fault in many Toyota and Lexus vehicles.
The contact owns a 2021 Toyota Camry. The contact stated while driving 5 MPH into a parking space with the brake pedal depressed, the vehicle lunged forward. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 16,500.

Unwanted acceleration, floor mat
The driver side floor mat will not interfere with the throttle pedal if properly secured using the retaining hooks provided by Toyota.however, if the all weather mat is unsecured and moves forward from its intended position it can entrap the throttle pedal at the fully open position after it has been depressed.this can happen regardless of whether or not another mat (carpet) is underneath.when this occurs, some…
