Vehicle began shaking on the highway. It was coming from under the front hood and was shaking the steering wheel. The check engine light came on. I pulled over and had it towed to the Mercedes repair shop. They said it was related to a bad balance shaft and that it was a systemic problem with the engine in certain Mercedes e350s. I was told I needed to replace the camshaft and it would cost $6,000!!! After some research, it looks like Mercedes agreed, back in 2015, to cover only certain of these Mercedes, but there was no recall. I could have been killed if I was rear ended.

30 aug.16 took my 07 E350 with 29427 miles to the dealership because the check engine light came on and the car was hard starting. After arriving I informed the service writer the car had shut down while driving. We were proceeding through a busy major intersection when the car shut down. Additionally, the engine control unit, engine wiring harness, crank sensor and various other components are oil soaked. I notified Mercedes Benz to be told the car was out of warranty. Mercedes Benz should be held accountable for the unsafe defective materials they use. The above issues are a danger to the occupants and general public as well. The defective oil soaked wiring harness is can cause a fire. …
