The sunroof on my 2008 Jeep Commander leaks profusely, even in mundane conditions like a rain sprinkle or carwash. Throughout the year, whenever there is a rain downpour, water leaks through the sunroof and side posts to the point that water is sloshing and splashing around as I drive, and splashes up on me when I stop. Through online research, I've learned that Chrysler refuses to address and correct the faulty drainage tubes causing the leaky sunroofs, nor does Chrysler honor warranty claims for these sunroofs despite issuing at least 7 Technical Service Bulletins about its vehicles' faulty drainage tubes and leaking sunroofs between 1999 and 2010, the class action lawsuit says. I am now having to spend hundreds, if not thousands, to have the sunroof and side post drainage channels repaired. Thousands of other Jeep owners have had this same issue. …
Driving down the interstate with all windows on Jeep Commander closed. With no fore warning the sunroof flew off. This poses a serious safety risk to the individual driver and others on the road. My scenario another driver's vehicle was struck by said glass.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 Jeep Commander. While driving approximately 60 MPH, the passenger side air bags deployed without warning or impact. The air bag indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where pictures were taken; however, it was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the contact would have to wait for a safety investigator. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the investigation. The failure mileage was approximately 173,000. Updated 09/20/16 also, the windows would no longer roll down and the lock no longer worked to open the hatch. The consumer stated there was no word as to when a safety investigator was coming to inspect the vehicle. Updated 10/05/16.
While driving at highway speeds the wipers failed to function giving no warning signs (the wipers functioned normally 2 days prior). The wiper switch and "mist function" are both inoperative while the while the windshield washer pump functions normally.
I have had my 2006 Jeep Commander for a year and in that time period I have had a consistent problem. When I am driving the vehicle I will randomly lose power to the instrument panel, windows , windshield wipers and almost everything electrical. The engine will continue to run but if it happens at night I lose interior lights dash lights I can't see how fast I am going due to the panel not working. I have had it to the mechanic and he insists it has something to do with the ignition switch. I know a recall has been issued for a separate ignition problem but after reading online and seeing many other reports just like mine I,believe there is another issue to be handled. This problem is also making it impossible to get the vehicle inspected because when it acts up it cause the check engine light to come on and has to be reset. Then before all sensors have reset it occurs again. …
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 Jeep Commander. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 MPH, the vehicle suddenly stalled. Upon restart, the vehicle operated as normal. The vehicle was taken an authorized dealer where they were unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was repaired, by a previous owner, under the recall associated with NHTSA campaign id number 08V203000 (power train:automatic transmission:control module (cm, PCM)). The contact also stated that there was a burning odor coming from the air vents. Since the presence of the burning odor, the air conditioner no longer functioned. There was also a failure within the passenger side window, in which the window would roll down when the button was engaged to make the window roll up, and the interior dome lights would involuntarily turn on and off. The vehicle was not taken to be repaired. …
