Selected complaints filed with NHTSA by 2008 Jeep Commander owners, lightly cleaned up (personal details are redacted by NHTSA).

The sunroof on my 2008 Jeep Commander leaks profusely, even in mundane conditions like a rain sprinkle or carwash. Throughout the year, whenever there is a rain downpour, water leaks through the sunroof and side posts to the point that water is sloshing and splashing around as I drive, and splashes up on me when I stop. Through online research, I've learned that Chrysler refuses to address and correct the faulty drainage tubes causing the leaky sunroofs, nor does Chrysler honor warranty claims for these sunroofs despite issuing at least 7 Technical Service Bulletins about its vehicles' faulty drainage tubes and leaking sunroofs between 1999 and 2010, the class action lawsuit says. I am now having to spend hundreds, if not thousands, to have the sunroof and side post drainage channels repaired. Thousands of other Jeep owners have had this same issue. …

Driving down the interstate with all windows on Jeep Commander closed. With no fore warning the sunroof flew off. This poses a serious safety risk to the individual driver and others on the road. My scenario another driver's vehicle was struck by said glass.

The passenger side mirror and bronzed and has what looks like veins running toward the middle of the mirror. I am not able to see clearly at all from the inside of the Jeep. This is a safety hazard due to the size of the vehicle. I contacted the dealership and the manufacturer. I was told the part was discontinued and not covered by my lifetime warranty. The dealer and body shops have told me they experienced several complaints with this issue. The mirror has defrost and electrical movement. I feel this part is defective and there should be a recall for safety issues. My Jeep only has approximately 69,500 miles and is in excellent condition other than this mirror. The side mirror and not been damaged in any way physically for this to have happened. The glass is smooth and does reflect light, however, I cannot see clearly at all from the driver seat. …

A couple nights ago I started my vehicle and the lights were dim at the dashboard. At the same time the headlights would only turn off when the vehicle was turned off, the turn signals quit working, but the hazards work though, the dome lights didn't work unless lens pushed on but not from turn signal lever and the windshield wipers quit working. This all happened at the same time. I thought maybe a cluster relay was bad. The more I look into it, it May be the TIPM is faulty. In the past year I have replaced the battery twice, alternater is good and the vehicle stalled at random times.

I recently had an issue where after driving my vehicle, going into a bank and returning to start my car, the vehicle did not start. I tried repeatedly to start the vehicle but nothing worked. Finally it started again at an auto shop and then turned off and we tried to start it again, but it would not start. The battery was tested as well as the starter. There were no issues with either or the components associated with starting the vehicle. However, after my independent mechanic starting searching for recalls he noticed there was a recall on the front control module and said to call Chrysler. I called and only 1338 vehicles were "qualified" for this part recall. My vehicle is not part of that recall but the issue at hand is the culprit of a defective front control module. …

Driving my 2008 Jeep Commander on the highway approximately 55mph and the vehicle stalled and the entire electrical system power went out. Had to pull over turn off the vehicle, pull the key out, and restart. Vehicle resumed normal operation. I have experienced many times since I purchased the vehicle in 2008 where my electrical system failed, and one previous occurrence where the engine stalled and the electrical system failed, but on those occurrences the vehicle was not in motion. I have taken it into the dealer on numerous occasions since 2008 and described the problem with feedback from the dealer that there was no recall for my vehicle and that they could not duplicate the symptoms I was experiencing. Investigated on NHTSA.gov and noticed the issue, campaign id number 08V059000. This campaign almost exactly describes the issue I am experiencing. …
