What owners report

Unknown. **Vehicle:** 2025 Honda Odyssey Touring **Component:** Engine / Electrical System / Automatic Idle Stop My 2025 Honda Odyssey Touring has repeatedly failed to restart after the automatic idle-stop system shuts off the engine while stopped in traffic. This problem began very early in the vehicle's life, at approximately 10,000 miles, and has occurred an estimated 8-10 times. The vehicle currently has 40,340 miles. When the problem occurs, the engine does not crank or make any clicking sounds. Multiple attempts are required before the engine will restart. On at least one occasion, the dashboard displayed the message "Press Brake and Push Start." I cannot confirm whether this message appeared during the other incidents because I was focused on getting the vehicle restarted and moving out of traffic. …

2025 Odyssey · Aug 2026

My 2025 Honda Odyssey Touring has developed an intermittent malfunction involving the second-row passenger-side seatbelt buckle and warning system. The problem began at approximately 39,000 miles. The vehicle currently has 40,340 miles. The seatbelt warning system intermittently activates and produces repeated audible chimes even though the passenger's seatbelt is buckled. The warning can be triggered or interrupted by physically moving or wiggling the seatbelt buckle or latch assembly. This suggests an intermittent malfunction within the buckle assembly or its associated electrical components. I am concerned that the buckle assembly may be defective. Although the warning system is detecting a change in buckle status, I cannot determine whether the problem is limited to the electrical sensor or also affects the mechanical integrity of the buckle. …

2025 Odyssey · Sep 2026

Over the summer when our Honda odyssey was only a couple months old (we had bought it brand new) my 7 year old son ended up with the seatbelt in the back passenger seat wrapped around his neck! He was playing with the seatbelt and somehow got it around his neck. I was driving and his siblings told me what was happening. I of course quickly pulled over into a parking lot and I couldn't believe how tight it was wrapped around his neck in such a short period of time! As I was trying to loosen it it just kept getting tighter and tighter. My daughter ran into a Taco Bell and asked them for scissors and the workers couldn't believe the situation we were in said there's no time to even call 911 they had to cut him lose. So we had to cut the seatbelt with scissors to save his life as it was super tight on his neck. It was an awful experience I never could have imagined happening. …

2023 Odyssey · Jul 2023

We purchased a brand new Honda Odyssey and when driving my 7 year old son began playing with the seatbelt. The seatbelt became wrapped around his neck and went into locked position so it couldn't be loosened. I thankfully was near a restaurant so was able to get scissors from them and had to cut the seatbelt off my sons neck to free him! It was terrifying that I couldn't release the belt from his neck and I'm lucky I was able to get scissors to free him! The seatbelt should not automatically lock if retracted all the way! There should be a release button! I went to the dealership to get the seatbelt replaced and they are charging over a thousand dollars! Like I said, brand new van and I had no other option but to save my son from strangulation by cutting the seatbelt free!!!

While child was seated in the rear right second-row seat of a 2022 Honda Odyssey Touring, the seat belt became stuck and jammed, trapping the child in the car seat. Multiple attempts were made to release the child but the seat belt mechanism would not release. The child became distressed and complained of difficulty breathing. As an emergency measure, the child car seat had to be physically cut and destroyed to free the child. The vehicle was subsequently taken to the dealer. The dealer confirmed that the rear right second-row seat belt was found cut in half and that the seat frame had to be replaced. Dealer stated the belt mechanism tested normal during post-incident inspection but was unable to reproduce the entrapment condition. The seat belt tensioner is suspected of having gotten stuck, causing the entrapment. …

While traveling from Florida to our home in Pennsylvania in December 2022, we were on [redacted] and after going over a pothole, the side curtain airbag, and the driver seat side airbag inadvertently deployed. It was very traumatic and we are fortunate that we were able to pull off the side of the highway without getting hit by vehicles., The repair, which totaled over$16,000 was done by GERBER COLLISION AND GLASS Easton, PA. we personally are trying to recoup our out of pocket expenses of $781.08 from HONDA. And now, a month ago, May 2026,(almost 4 years after our incident) we received a SAFETY RECALL notification from explaining the exact issue we had.NHTSA Recall number26V227. we can provide photos and documentation, invoices, out of pocket expenses, etc if necessary but we have no idea how to include them on this form.

2020 Odyssey · Dec 2022

My son turned around in his second-row seat of our Honda Odyssey, causing the seat belt to cinch tightly around his waist. Even after the buckle was released, the seat belt continued to tighten instead of loosening. It became so tight that he could barely breathe, and we ultimately had to cut the seat belt to free him. There was no way to manually release or loosen the belt once it had locked. This presents a serious safety hazard. Seat belts should include an emergency release or override mechanism that allows a locked belt to be loosened during an entrapment situation.
