Mileage when the problem started
What owners report
I purchased this car new with 10 miles driven only 14 months ago. At 3100 miles it lost all electric/electronic/engine power as I was traveling approximately 40 miles on a city street with traffic! The engine light, service wrench light and dinging sounds flashed; the vehicle decreased in speed, and shut down, making it difficult to steer. Fortunately, I was able to coast off the street into an open driveway prior to its complete stop of the vehicle from loss of all power! Then there were absolutely no power; ignition would not start; no lights, no power of any kind. After calling Ford service hotline, and about 2.5 hours waiting for a tow truck in the hot heat, I tried the ignition - the power was back. Nevertheless, the vehicle was towed to Ford dealership where purchased. The next day their diagnostics and two test drives 'found no problems with the vehicle'. …
Tl* the contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the traction control warning indicator illuminated, indicating that it was both on and off. The dealer (roberts motors, 4350 n alby st, alton il) was contacted, but could not diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was notified and case number: 14565487 was opened. The contact was informed that the vehicle was in the preliminary process for the investigation. The failure mileage was approximately 13,000.
My Ford Edge had a sudden deceleration and a dangerous loss of power in the middle of a busy city intersection causing oncoming traffic to come to a halt. The SUV is now causing a traffic jam with my family looking at on coming traffic. Thank goodness we did not have an accident. Right after that episode, the transmission jerked so hard we bounced forward and backwards in our seats. Again, the car had a loss of power. Since that time, my Ford Edge experienced two other episodes. Ford marketed and sold this vehicle as new with a defective electronic throttle body control. How do I know that? When I took the car to bob tomes Ford dealership, I was told the throttle body control had been replaced at 1000 miles. They sold the car as a new vehicle off the lot without revealing it had been driven as a demo vehicle. …
When coming to a stop at an intersection the proximity sensors go off inadvertently frequently when there is no object there. We have taken it to Ford service several times only to be told everything checks out okay. This happens on a daily basis and is very annoying and makes us not trust the sensors since they sense objects that are not visible. This usually happens when slowing down for a stop sign at an intersection or stop light. It can go off on either side even through no other vehicles or objects are there. My wife has recorded this on her phone to show the service department but so far they have not been able to duplicate it. When we showed them the video they said they had another person record a video of the same issue on another Ford Edge under slowing or coming to a stop at an intersection. …
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Edge. The contact stated that when she turns off the vehicle after driving and later attempts to restart, the vehicle would fail to start and the steering wheel would seize. The contact stated that the vehicle would indicate that there was a system reset, and the failure would reoccur. A jump start was required in order to start the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle would drive normally for a few days, and the failure would reoccur. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who checked the battery and alternator, which they found no issue with. The contact stated the dealer then advised her that there was a recall with the same failure she was experiencing on her same year, make, and model vehicle NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V733000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL), however, her vehicle was not included in the recall. …

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while attempting to decelerate and depressing the brake pedal, there was an abnormal grinding sound coming from the brakes. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle failed to detect other nearby vehicles as intended. The vehicle was taken to a local Pep Boys, where the rear rotors and brake pads were replaced. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the same local Pep Boys, where the vehicle was diagnosed with a check engine, transmission, ABS, Cruise Control Module, and seat module failure. The local Pep Boys diagnosed the vehicle with an ABS module failure that impacted the performance of several other safety features. …
When driving at highway speeds (65 MPH+) with cruise control enabled, if I pass an 18 wheeler, the car will suddenly jam on the brakes and decelerate from my current speed down below 55 MPH. This happens in less then 3 seconds. There is no one in front of me - it is a clear straightaway. If I step on the gas the car will speed up and I'll pass the truck. At that point the cruise control will operate normally - until I pass another truck. This doesn't happen all then time. Maybe 20%. It seems to happen with tall tractor trailers more then normal trucks. Aside from the sudden stopping issue, the real problem is that cars behind me see that I am stopping for no apparent reason and if they're not paying attention they'll run right into the back of my car. This has been a day 1 problem - I bought the car new in 2014. I am adding my complaint to others who have reported this same issue. …
