This is a 2022 Ram 2500 Long Horn with teh 6.7L Cummings Diesel. I have owned it for 30 days and it has 1475 miles on the odometer. The Service DEF System came on and after talking with the local dealership, the DEF sensor and or DEF pump has failed due to the DEF freezing. They have explained that this is a know issue and has affected the 2019 to present model year. After doing extensive research on neumorous blogs, it is a much larger problem than the dealer is letting on. It appears to be created by a design change that took place in 2019 and is caused by the DEF fluid itself freezing in the tank damaging the DEF sensor. DEF freezes at -12 so those of us living in areas where it may hit -12 are all affected by this situation and in reality, have spend 60k plus on a vehicle that we cannot operate. …

The contact owns a 2021 Ram 2500. The contact stated that upon driving several miles and refueling the vehicle, he noticed that the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) additive gauge remained stuck in the same position. There was no warning light illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that it was a known failure and that the failure would persist even after the repair. Upon investigating the failure, the contact discovered that the failure mainly occurred in cold weather due to the DEF additive crystallization in cold temperatures, causing the additive gauge to be stuck in the same position. A message indicating to add a DEF additive in the vehicle for safety was displayed. The vehicle was not repaired. Additionally, the contact stated that the tailgate latch had fractured due to cold weather and had been replaced three times by the dealer. …

March 10,2023 2019 Ram 2500 Cummins 6.7L Diesel I picked up my truck from the dealership this morning, after they did the outstanding CP4 fuel pump recall. I drove the vehicle home (approx 20) miles. Parked the car in the driveway for about 3 hours. Then took a short trip to the store. After the store, when leaving the parking lot I noticed an electrical/plastic smell. Within in seconds smoke started to come through the air vents. I pulled the truck over, turned off the truck, open the hood when fire exspelled from the engine compartment. Immediately call the fire department. They arrived in minutes to put out the fire, but at that point the whole front end of the truck was on fire and smoking (dense white/gray smoke). Then there was a loud burst of flame that came from the engine compartment. The fire worked its way into the cab compartment, burned it completely. The truck is totaled.
