What owners report

I have had numerous safety warning messages display upon startup and also while driving. The messages are usually combined with a cold ambient temperature and do not display during warm temperatures. The FCA dealership has attempted to fix this issue on at least six different occasions so far without any change. To date, FCA has replaced the original battery, they have updated, flashed the ECU module, performed NHTSA Recall B4C for flashing the cluster, and most recently they replaced the ORC module. FCA indicated that NHTSA-25V882 was not applicable to my VIN despite my VIN production date in April '25; within your suspect period. Original issue remains, FCA STAR case generated however cannot replicate error condition for FCA engineers. The next scheduled visit to FCA is to replace a telematics module for possible link to issue with the Uconnect5 system. …

Drove down a paved road in the legal speed limit (30mph). Hit a bump in the pavement and the dash had large amounts of disabled codes popping up: airbag disabled, emergency braking disabled, power steering disabled, blind spots need service, traction control. Brought it to a RAM dealership where they found 6 active and 51 stored DTCs all tied to the communication to the powertrain and safety modules (4wd, power steering, airbags, ABS). The dealer did not have time to fix it, so another dealership said they would fix it if I drove it to them. That second dealer found 3 pulled out wires in the right front fender liner, plug those 3 wires in and works like new. My safety was put at risk due to the airbags disabling, power steering disabling, and ABS. …

Hit a bump at approx. 55mph going into a curve while pulling a loaded car trailer. The unstable 4-link rear suspension combined with the air bag suspension system created/allowed/exacerbated trailer sway that caused the trailer to ultimately jack knife into a fence off the highway. This endangered myself and two oncoming cars in the curve. Driver skill and shear dumb luck prevented death to any/all on the road. Poor/unstable rear suspension engineering caused the accident. The air bags did not deploy and I do not recall the seatbelt locking up. Stellantis subcontracted Bosch Automotive Service Solutions (CASE # 91832257) to examine the truck. The inspector could find nothing out of "spec" or alignment, but was able to reproduce and experience like symptoms (and was visibly unsettled) during his test drive. …

Airbags did not deploy during a significant accident where (self) Dodge Ram 2500 Laramie 2024 truck was involved in 2 front on collisions hitting 2 different vehicles at approx 65 mph (about 5 mins apart) including a 3rd part to the accident with a rear collision by a full speed tractor trailer moving the (dodge) truck about 200 ft. into the 2nd parked vehicle (blue sedan). Dodge truck (self) was not drivable after the initial accident into the chevy truck. No auto breaking and no frontal collision warning (uncertain if they are standard for the trucks or an option) occurred. The vehicle was towed and in a tow lot (is available for inspection). There is a police report and followed up with an ER visit same day. At least 3 vehicles were totaled due to this accident. The initially hit vehicle (white chevy truck) was the cause of the accident.

Desiccated Air Bag Inflator Rupture

NHTSA investigation EA21002 · opened Sep 17, 2021 · open

From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited.
