Starting two years ago, after a rain, when parked, upon locking my car either manually or with the key fob, the alarm goes off, interior lights illuminate and the dash states the gate is ajar. Repeatedly open and close the gate with no remedy. Have to leave car unlocked and usually the interior lights go off after a few hours. Related is the gate occasionally fails to unlock as well as unable to open the rear gate window. And the rear wiper continues to stay on after being turned off. All appear to be related to moisture somehow affecting the lift gate electrical system. Have taken to dealership three times, first two under warranty and dealer advised unable to find problem. Third time after warranty expired, advised they would need to replace seal at cost of $600. Declined repair.

After stopping at a rest area on trip from lucas ohio to cinccinnati upon leaving found head lights not working. After approx. 1/2 hour lights came on so placed on auto and they work now, but now noticed while driving and it starts raining wipers don't work all the time also when this happens there's no horn, turn signals,or wipers so we are starting to worry about being on highway and starts raining wipers wont work and have needed horn several times and it don't work. We have noticed that when the digital compass on dash is off that the following don't work, including headlight switch, wipers, horn, turnsignals, cruise control, steering wheel radio controls, seems all problems are centered around the compass on dash going off and all steering wheel electrical components!

First incident was in November to where my headlights quit working. I switched out the dual switch but that did not help and then tried cleaning and switching the relays around in the TIPM and that helped somewhat. Now I have a whole set of problems. My wipers will not shut off and headlights will not shut off unless I turn car off, and my blinkers are not working at all. I had to pull the fuse for the wipers but cannot find the fuse for the blinkers because it is part of the TIPM as well as the headlights. I am worried that with these little issues coming up that eventually bigger ones will happen if the TIPM is the problem and Chrysler knows about this, why isn't there a recall. I do not see why I should dish out all this money to repair something that is a defect.

2010 Liberty · 120,000 miles · Jun 2015

This electrical problem showed up in the middle of driving down the road. The entire car shut down going 40 MPH. Lights flashed, wipers went off, horn too, all for 10 seconds, while cruising with now power/gas. Then the car started again on its own, and kept driving. Ever since, the electrical system is screwed up. Wipers will run, but do not push fluid. Car doors will not lock/unlock with keyfob or driver's side controls. Must manually lock/unlock all doors. The tailgate cannot unlock, therefore will not open. Fan doesn't work, so no A/C or heat. Mechanic said the TIPM must be replaced, and it is not covered by Jeep/Chrysler warranty. $1300 out of pocket! This is ridiculous, it is obviously a manufacturer defect.
