Electrical issue with drivers side front blinker works when headlights are off but when headlights are turned on front blinker does not work. I've seen numerous complaints about the same issue with this vehicle amongst other electrical issues

2012 Liberty · Feb 2023

For the past few months I have had electric issues with my car; I.e power doors lock/unlock doesn't work at all, back windshield wiper doesn't work, windows will not roll up, and dimming/flickering of interior/exterior lights which are all due to a faulty TIPM. Which I have been informed is a very expensive fix. As of today as I was driving with cruise control on my car had a mind of it's own and accelerated to a higher speed revving the car up to 4000 rpms on a flat straight road. I tried to turn off and cancel cruise control on the steering wheel with which did nothing. I then pressed the break several times and again nothing. After having a complete panic attack and trying everything I could to turn cruise off it eventual went off on it's own. I have been made aware but other individuals having similar electric problems all caused by a faulty TIPM. …

After stopping at a rest area on trip from lucas ohio to cinccinnati upon leaving found head lights not working. After approx. 1/2 hour lights came on so placed on auto and they work now, but now noticed while driving and it starts raining wipers don't work all the time also when this happens there's no horn, turn signals,or wipers so we are starting to worry about being on highway and starts raining wipers wont work and have needed horn several times and it don't work. We have noticed that when the digital compass on dash is off that the following don't work, including headlight switch, wipers, horn, turnsignals, cruise control, steering wheel radio controls, seems all problems are centered around the compass on dash going off and all steering wheel electrical components!

While driving home from the grocery store, the dome lights and gate open warning light came on. Since it was after dark, the light from the dome light was blinding and made it very difficult to see. I immediately pulled over and checked the tailgate. The tailgate and window were both firmly latched. When starting to drive again, it went out but almost immediately came back on. Fortunately I was about a mile from home and made it home without incident. This should be reported to the NHTSA as a potential crash problem as the bright light suddenly coming on could cause an accident. I know there are some other electrical recalls for this model and year Jeep and this should be added to the list.

2010 Jeep Liberty limited 4x4 began to intermittently start and not have headlights, sometimes the lights would not come on at all, other times only the parking lights would work, and other times only the headlights would work. It was taken to both a Jeep dealer as well as a local garage and no one could find an issue. They tried replacing the switch but this did not help either. Eventually, the issue got worse and the lights have now shut off while driving at night on highways, local roads, ect. And has become unsafe to drive. Jeep still claims to never have seen anything like this however multiple complaints exists online for similar complaints, a local garage told me about the TIPM issues and even upon suggesting the replacement of this part, Jeep insisted this couldn't be the issue. …

I have a 2010 Jeep Liberty sport and it's headlights continue to go off on me while on the highway and it's only noticeable at night in which is not safe. I've changed both light bulbs in which worked and then went out within 20 mins agai at night on the highway. Then I changed the 30amp/relay. Then I changed the dimmer switch. All of this did not work. Then the dealer changed the windshield that is located on the right hand side and it worked for about a week with the passenger side light going out but working when I shimmy the cord of conductor. But like it did previously it's now not just the passenger light as both lights are again not working. And they are starting to flicker then just goes out altogether to where now the shimmy is no longer effective. …

I have had my Jeep since it was new. In the beginning my radio would cut off or lock up and I had it tested and nothing was found. Then my espoff, 4wd, service, 4 wd low light would come on and go off. I took it in and was not charged because noting showed up. But the mechanic said he had heard of others had the same complaint. Then while I was driving at night at approximately 65 MPH I started to roll my window up and the lift gate light came on and all the lights inside the vehicle came on and I could not adjust or turn them off. This has happened now 3 times and it is a definite safety concern when all the lights and a vehicle comes on while driving at night.

Both left and right front turn signal/marker/parking lamp assembly/modules have suddenly and for no apparent reason are leaking and hold water/condensation. Therefore, resulting in reduce lighting, dim, or non-functional front turn signals. And the resulting exposure to water, and possible corrosion of electrical wiring, contacts, and lamps. Which, May indeed result in a system electrical short or perhaps possible electrical fire. A new 2009 Jeep, that has never been off-road nor in any kind of standing or deep water, with only 26+ k miles should not have a dual failure of the same component at exactly at the same time. Thank you.
