Tl* the contact owns a 2003 Jeep Liberty. While driving at an unknown speed, an abnormal pop sound emitted from the vehicle as the rear driver side window fell into the door without warning. On several occasions my car has stalled. Prior to it stalling it would have power surges, backfire, the RPM needle would go crazy, and then just shut off loosing all power to brakes and steering. Stalling would occur mostly at lower rates of speeds (under 50mph). It wouldn't turnover immediately. I would have to wait 20 to 25 seconds each time and then it would start, almost as if the system resets itself. It's pretty scary when you have to young children and your on a freeway and your car all of a sudden stalls. The second problem I'm having is a very loud noise coming from the rear end. I pointed my side mirror down towards my backtire. I watched as the rearend made a load cluncking noise and it was as if the back tire was being pushed outwards. The third problem is my passenger side rear window just dropped into the door. The motor still works I can hear it. …
I purchased my Jeep Liberty in 2003. About 2 years after purchase, the first window regulator went out. Unfortunately, there were only warranty's to cover the repair for 2006-2007 models, requiring me to pay for the repair. The regulator went out 2 more times over the next 3 years - with out of pocket costs each time to repair. The 4th time the regulator went out, I contacted Jeep, explained the situation and they were happy to oblige. Jeep had to pay for regulator one more time, as another went out just a few months later. This totals 5 incidents (3 out of pocket; 2 paid by Jeep). I am now on the 6th time the regulator has gone out. I contacted Jeep, but they have chosen not to pay for this repair and says it is not their issue. I highly disagree, as this is an issue that should have been recalled years ago. …
I have a few issues and questions. I purchased my Jeep thru navy exchange sales in 2003, new. I lived in singapore 2007-2013, all recalls posted for these years were not performed on my vehicle as the car was in storage and no one drove it. How can I get these previous years recalls completed for my 2003 Liberty Jeep? I currently have a outstanding recall from nov 2015 that was reviewed by the Jeep dealer southern Jeep, located on military highway and I have yet to receive any feedback wrt the status of the repair, evaluation etc... My rear window defrost mechanism is inoperable; it has been repair about 5 times by Jeep dealers, it was a recall a few years back and guess what, it still doesn't work and the wire is just hanging there in a non-working status. Help! I'm a loyal Jeep owner, I have (2), this May change....? Pls advise[redacted] ' '
The window regulator has broken in both of my rear windows multiple times. It broke in the rear driver's side window on: jan. 2005, jun. 2008, jan. 2010, & oct. 2011. It has also broken in the rear passenger's side window on: sept. 2005; dec. 2007; sept. 2009; oct. 2010; & jan. 2012. That would be a total of 9 times. Obviously the part that is being used is inferior since it continually breaks and at best lasts around 2 years. I have calculated that this part has cost me a grand total of $1,295. Jeep has offered assistance in paying for the repairs but I have always had some financial responsibility. I feel that this is a safety hazard because when the part malfunctions the window slides all the way into the door. This could be a potential safety issue if I had young children riding in the backseat. …
The rear windows on my 2003 Jeep Liberty stopped working. They would not move up or down using the buttons. The only way to keep them up is to put tape on them. At first the only time the window would come down was when I would be driving. Then they would not stay up at all. This created a problem when it was raining. There were times when my entire backseat was wet because of the windows fallen down. A mechanic told me it was the window regulator. I just had a mechanic repair one of the windows. It cost me $385 dollars to get one window repaired. I could only afford to get one done, so I still have tape on the other window. The dealership quoted me an estimate of $600. Also, I am concerned because other owners said they have had to change out the regulators more than once. I would not be able to keep replacing those regulators. …
Twice now on my 2003 Jeep Liberty the passenger side rear window has fallen into the door. The first time this happened was in approx 2007. Both times when I noticed that the window was partially down, I tried to roll it back up, but it wouldn't move. I then tried to pull it back up and the entire window fell down into the door. The first time it cost approx $400 to reattach the window and replace the faulty connector part. Not yet sure what the cost will be for this repair. This is very dangerous with my daughter riding in the back seat. Apparently, there have been hundreds of similar complaints with these windows failing multiple times on the same car... This should definitely be a recall! See http://www.carcomplaints.com/Jeep/Liberty/2006/windows_windshield/window_regulator_breaks.shtml.
Six times windows (both sides, front and back) have fallen at different times inside the door of my Jeep Liberty. Today the falling window also resulted in the door not being able to open. This definitely is a hazard when you have small children riding in the back seat -- since they cannot ride in the front due to the air bags. This is a well-known hazard to Chrysler Jeep and they will not waive the cost of the repair or the deductible on the warranty. And the problem keeps happening. I figure that a window on this vehicle lasts about 10,000 miles because I only have 66,000 miles and this is the sixth time it has happened. This is dangerous and there should be a recall on this problem and the problem should be permanently repaired free of charge.
