Started the vehicle and before we could put it in gear, the airbags in the back seat deployed. I contacted Jeep Customer Service and was given case # 93132151 and they had it towed to the nearest dealership for diagnosis. Then Jeep refused to pay the diagnostic fee and the dealership won't do the diagnosis. Our fear is that the vehicle is unsafe to drive as the front airbags could now go off.

Driving the vehicle for a few mins and the seatbelt light and airbag lights will come on and message show service airbags soon. Will stay in for about 2 mins to 15mins. Does not occur everyday but would say once every two weeks.

At the time I told them that the passenger air bags did not deploy and that there was an air bag malfunction light on. They did not inspect this system until I went to pick the car up and the airbag warning light came back on. I waited 3 days for repairs and they did not happen. So I drove the car back to florida and took it to a Jeep dealer here for the repairs. They have had my car since March and still cannot get the required repair parts from Chrysler. I am wondering if there is any way I can force them to come up with the parts and fix my vehicle. In the mean time I am paying car payments on a car that I can't drive. And a car that I had to purchase to replace the one I can't drive. …

Desiccated Air Bag Inflator Rupture

NHTSA investigation EA21002 · opened Sep 17, 2021 · open

From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited.
