My 2008 Infiniti G35 airbag and passenger airbag lights illuminated. I reset the lights and checked the wiring under the passenger seat but the lights came on again. I took the car to the dealer and they came up with code b1018, occupant sensor (unit fail) past code. They reset the lights and recommend changing the passenger seat bottom if the lights returned. The cost?....$6137 but they will give me a discount, charging me $4176. This model was recalled for this problem but not my car...according to the VIN. My car was manufactured sep 2007, right in the middle of the recalled vehicles manufactured interval. I believe Infiniti should be required to assume the cost of this expensive repair by including it in the recall.
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 Infiniti G35. The contact stated that the air bag warning lamp flashed and indicating a malfunction. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 08V521000 (air bags and electrical system). The vehicle was taken to the authorized dealer, who diagnosed that the front passenger side seat needed to be replaced as well as the sensor which failed within the seat cushion containing ocs hardware. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 42,000. Updated 7/21/15
The contact owns a 2007 Infiniti G35 Coupe. The contact stated that the front passenger's seat was not able to be reclined. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 185,000.
The electric motor controlling the reclining of the seat back has failed. Leaving the seat back in a reclined position with no way to move the seat back into an upright appropriate driving position. It is incredibly difficult to drive because I am unable to rest my back on the seat and have to hold myself upright at all times. This seat failure occurred sometime around mid-November, and on Friday May 27th I nearly experienced a collision with a stray dog in my neighborhood due to my poor viewing angle of the road when I was resting my back against the permanently reclined seat-back. Now I drive with back off the seat-back so I can better see the road, but if I get into an accident, there is no upright seat support against my back to hold my body in place and minimize trauma.
I was almost a complete stop when I was rear ended. The impact was pretty hard, and the vehicle was ultimately a total loss. At the time of collision, my drivers side seat collapsed back on me almost to a full recline position. Due to this, my seat belt was completely loose, and felt as if I did not have one on. I slid down, and my ankles were bruised on top, and my baseball cap flew off into the back seat. Also, the airbag did not deploy.
1)driver braked to avoid crash debris in road 2)driver behind auto rear-ended the car in which I was a passenger and both the driver and passenger seat were fully reclined as a result of rear-end impact.
The contact owns a 2005 Infiniti G35. The contact stated that the seat failed to recline. The service engine light was illuminated. Upon investigation, the contact linked the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 10V175000 (Air Bags, Seats). The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined that the cause was a faulty fuse. The fuse was replaced, but the failure recurred. The contact called the local dealer, who confirmed the recall repair was previously completed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact called another local dealer, Douglas Infiniti (430 Morris Ave, Summit, NJ 07901), but there was no response. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 190,000.
Driving 70 mile in fwy my car engine just shut off completely I almost died out there because of cars behind me. I calmly changed steering wheel to right side of fwy with left over speed after 5 of vehicle behind me almost crashed me and each other. Turn off engine and started engine few time and it worked so I sent my car to shop and they said it's a 2 of sensor prob. And while he was moving my car, driver side seat switch button was on fire! Fire! What is going on. I would have been killed out there if not for god. I see a lot of people complained on sensor prob with engine shut off, isn't this dangerous to drive???? Risking all of people's lives????
