I have a 2005 Infiniti g35x. I have owned it since approximately 50K miles. Friday night, on my way driving from dc to ny, the ac got stuck at 90 degrees, and in auto mode, the backlight for the instrument cluster went completely dead, and the stereo went out completely. I have no control over any of these 3 devices. Since I live on the east coast and all the dealerships in the area are closed, I called one in riverside, ca - riverside Infiniti. They said the stereo is dead and they've seen the problem "countless times" (quote). I made a posting on several Infiniti forums on the internet requesting advice. The consensus is the same - stereo is bad. I feel that the instrument cluster and my HVAC should never be connected to the stereo as this is a major safety concern. Also, since this is a common problem, Infiniti should issue a recall/TSB.
2005 Infiniti G35 sedan. Consumer found many problems with car and feels been fooled by dealership. The consumer stated two days, after he purchased the vehicle, he noticed defect. A mechanic confirmed the air bag was not functioning, as the light was flashing, the tires were overly worn, the cd player was not working, the passenger door would not shut properly, the wheels were not aligned and the lower cat shield made a noise.
2004 with approx. 7,200 miles. Rattling noise heard in 1st and 2nd gear. Dealer said it needed new tranny. Replaced tranny. Picked up car and while driving home, could not get it into 5th or 6th gear. Back to dealer. Was told that tranny was bad and had to be replaced again. Picked up car and within a week heard a knocking noise in 5th gear, vibration in stick shift and a clanking noise when applying the brakes for the first time after car sitting for a bit. Later found out that dealer lied about installing the 2nd transmission. Dealer refuses to tell me or give me paper work stating what was done on car the 2nd time they had. Infiniti consumer affairs and regional manager have not proven to be out for consumers interest. In fact, they call lying about the 2nd tranny a "mistake". …
I have a 2004 Infiniti G35 sedan. My audio failed and A/C stuck . . . The same problem they voluntarily repaired in 2003. (service bulletin #03007a and NHTSA item #10001253) it is caused by a failure of the audio finisher circuit board. Because of this, I am unable to turn on the window defroster and have difficulty seeing through the windshield when there is condensation due to certain weather conditions. When I brought my car to the dealership in roseville where I bought it, they said they would check on it but knowing there was only 10 days until my extended warranty was up, they never followed up. I have seen many 2004 owners on line with the same problem but Nissan/Infiniti don't seem to care. This is definitely a safety issue as my windshield fogs up when I drive to work, which is always early since I am a nurse and af reservist.
Tl* the contact owns a 2003 Infiniti G35. Upon starting the vehicle, the contact noticed that the air conditioning system and radio failed without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 80,000. Updated 09/21/15
There is an apparent known defect in the 2003 Infiniti G35 models. The radio and climate control will apparently lose all indicators, as if there is no power, but will continue to function, staying frozen on at their last settings. The radio volume or channels cannot be changed and the air conditioning/heater,etc. Are stuck on their last settings and cannot be changed without turning the car off. This is caused by a defective control board behind the dash. Infiniti/Nissan is aware of the problem, and has issued a voluntary service campaign (# itb03-007b) to repair the 26,300 vehicles listed by VIN # on the service bulletin. This is a hazard , as in the winter, the front or rear defrosters cannot be turned on, or the air conditioning turned off, causing a hazardous driving condition. …
