The contact owns a 2019 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that she was involved in an accident and that the grille shutter malfunction warning alarm and "power down" message were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic shop, where it was diagnosed that the distance calibration sensor needed to be replaced and that the vehicle was inoperable. The vehicle remained at the mechanic's shop awaiting the parts for the repair, which were on backorder. The contact made a local dealer aware of the failure and was advised to file a complaint with the NHTSA hotline. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was unknown.
I have been increasingly concerned with the automatic brake feature, which activates at times in a surprise. It is too "touchy" in slow city traffic, and I am afraid that I can get rear-ended if/when it activates. Nothing has happened yet. The worst problem is when traveling on a two-lane highway with speed limits in the range of 45-55 MPH. When the road is turning to the right, the sensor will pick up oncoming traffic (because it sees the oncoming car as in my line of travel) and put on the brake. This is very unsafe, and I almost lost control on one occasion. I have since learned I can turn this feature off, but it reactivates every time the car is restarted. Thus I have to remember always to turn off the feature when I restart the car. This is annoying, and can still lead to a problem if I forget to turn it off. The most frightening experience was on/about August 7, 2019. …
Electrical issues: after driving vehicle for 2 ' 5 minutes, entertainment system, rear entertainment screen and parking sensors stop working. The speakers make loud popping sound that will not go away even when you try to power off radio/entertainment system. Turning the vehicle off was the only way to stop the sound. Once restarted, everything would work for 2 ' 5 minutes and the same thing would happen. The speakers popping were very loud and distracting, screen with backup camera and parking sensors stopped working making the vehicle not drivable.
Takata recall I purchased a new Honda Odyssey 2016, on January 18 of 2017. In san jose, ca. When I first received my new Honda, I noticed that the floor carpeting was not finished at the edges and started unraveling soon after. Then after several weeks (first week of February 2017) the backup camera screen began to degrade. The screen has what looks like burned spots that radiate into discoloration of mixed colors of blue, red, green, orange, purple and covers half of the screen. In many instances the screen is un-viewable, other times, the defect is just a few spots that will expand to half of the screen. Nonetheless, it is a defect in the display. Since my Honda has a backup camera for safety, this is a safety issue. I have let Honda leadership know multiple times of the problem through multiple channels of support. …
Initially noticed starting problem where car wont start. Then got a p060a code and vsa light noticed low battery and hooked up a battery charger. I noticed a clicking sound like the starter was engaging several times and all the cabin lights were on, all on its own. I have noticed the cabin light was on before when I first came to the car and I simply thought that kids opened the door before me. Now I am suspicious that the car is running the starter and turning on the cabin light is draining the battery. This issue might occurred earlier as I had to change the battery after about 2 yrs. After the car was bought new. This car is equipped with push button start.
2011 Honda Odyssey exl as I was driving with my family two babys on the freeway 65 miles all of a sudden the vehicle the vsa light came on and the van break by itself almost got rear-ended, I was lucky that there was a exit to the left as I was driving on the left fast line. The whole van started vibrating ad shaking like the van was going to come apart.I checked on the NHTSA reports and a lot of this is happening. Some dealers are saying different things and Honda is not doing anything about it.it seems like the disks are to small for the weight. 1 person had racing disk and brakes put on and no problem.other people had the brakes redone by Honda and about a few thousand miles the same thing happened. Check to see what people are saying on your web sight. ( not safe for us ) . I knew a while back Honda always had problems with the rotors.but, I thought they fixed that by now. Please do something. I just turned 40,000 miles. After 6 years. All other service has been good.
