Driving through the intersection of N. Scottsdale Road and E. Bell Road in Scottsdale AZ my collision warning red light flashed on the screen and the engine turned off. This caused me to lose forward propulsion and forced me to navigate to the side of the road to avoid being hit by another car. At Van's GMC, the service manager told me that we experienced a catastrophic engine failure and that the engine seized. Vehicle has been inspected, but I have not received an official diagnostic even though I have requested. There were no warnings or indications that the vehicle was compromised prior to the engine turning off.
This is a supplemental report to my original complaint (NHTSA ID [redacted]) regarding my 2024 GMC Yukon (VIN [redacted]). I am providing additional detail: prior to GM's recall being issued, I contacted Hatchett Buick GMC by phone and visited in person on multiple occasions reporting engine sputtering, stalling, hesitation, and total loss of power and electrical shutdown while driving. I was repeatedly told these were minor issues not affecting anyone and not to worry about them. As a result, the vehicle was not formally serviced for these issues until September 2025 - roughly three months after the recall was finally announced, more than a year after I purchased the vehicle. Since that recall repair and a subsequent "best guess" repair performed by GM technicians (their own description, not mine), the vehicle continues to sputter, hesitate, stall, and intermittently lose power. …
The SUV has 46,000 miles on it. Recently, the check engine light illuminated, prompting me to take it to the dealership for servicing. The diagnostic codes retrieved were U0285 and U1345. I was informed that the aero shutter required replacement. There was no physical damage; it merely ceased functioning. The dealership confirmed the active check engine light and conducted a diagnosis. While my safety was not immediately compromised, I felt extremely frustrated upon learning that GM would not cover the repair under warranty, despite this being a recognized issue that GM has yet to address. This situation is simply unacceptable and warrants further investigation and resolution.
I was traveling with my family on the Ohio Turnpike. We were traveling west in our 2023 GMC Yukon Denali when we lost all propulsion and the engine seized. There was no warning lights or other symptoms prior to this incident on May 3, 2026. In fact, I had the vehicle in for the prescribed recall to test the engine for the known defect earlier in 2026. The vehicle passed that test and was given the upgraded oil change to presumably prevent the engine failure in the future. It did not work. Our safety and others on the turnpike were at risk while we were traveling at highway rates of speed with sudden loss of all propulsion. The vehicle was towed that evening to local GM dealer - Yark Chevy in [redacted] . Upon inspection on May 5, 2026, the dealership informed me the engine had seized and would be replaced by GM. They were unable to provide a timeline for this repair. …
On August 22, 2026, I was driving my 2023 GMC Yukon Denali with the 6.2L V8 at highway speed when the vehicle began struggling to maintain power while climbing a hill. The engine then developed a noticeable knocking sound. Shortly afterward, the engine shut off completely while the vehicle was moving, causing a sudden loss of propulsion. I was able to bring the vehicle to a stop, but the engine would not restart. The electronic transmission also would not shift into Neutral and displayed a message indicating that the conditions required to shift were not met. Because the vehicle could not be shifted out of Park, the towing company had difficulty loading and unloading the vehicle. The failure occurred during normal highway driving and created a significant safety concern because the engine shut down without warning while the vehicle was in motion. …
The contact owns a 2022 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that while attempting to make a left turn at an intersection, the vehicle lost automotive power while the accelerator pedal was depressed. The vehicle was towed to a local Firestone, where the fuel pump module was replaced. The local dealer was contacted. Upon further investigation, the contact associated the failure with GMC Emission Recall: N252516900-01; however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was previously taken to another local dealer for a fuel pump module replacement. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.
The contact owns a 2022 GMC Yukon. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was restarted; however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that while attempting to refuel the vehicle, the contact became aware that the fuel tank was inoperable. The contact stated that the fuel tank failed to allow fuel properly to enter the fuel tank. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.
