Vehicle equipped with B&O "Unleashed" stereo system experienced uncontrollable, high-volume deafening speaker volume that would only stop if the vehicle was turned off. I started my vehicle and heard an extremely loud pop and deafening "white noise" from all speakers in the truck cabin. Happened in both Run and Accessory modes. Noise started ~3 sec after start, would not stop until I turned off car and opened door (and then ~3 sec until noise stopped). Turning radio power and touchscreen off had no effect. Turning off all phones with Bluetooth connections had no effect. After waiting ~10 min with power off, the sound finally stopped. If I had been driving at the time, the sudden and extreme noise could have caused me to react in a way to lose control of the vehicle, as well as suffer hearing loss. …

Component: Stereo + Speakers I was put at risk because of the extremely loud sound coming from the speakers that I could not control. I was unable to hear traffic around me or concentrate on driving. It startled me so much I almost swerved into traffic. It was inspected by the manufacturer and they performed a reprogramming of the (audio controller?). There were no other warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms prior to the problem. It first appeared after owning the vehicle for 6 months. Details of incidents: I have had this happen 6 times: Turn on vehicle. Explosive POP comes from the speakers followed by no sound. Volume controls are unresponsive. No audio plays. After 15-20 seconds, the audio returns and volume controls are responsive again. I have had this happen 2 times: Turn on vehicle. Explosive POP comes from the speakers followed by continual max volume static. …

Upon entering our 22 F150 Platinum, closing the doors, and pushing the ignition button, a very loud explosion was heard followed by a loud crackling noise that continued around the entire top of our truck. The control panel then went completely black. This explosion was so loud that our ears were ringing for hours afterwards. If we had been driving the truck when this happened we could have had an accident. We tried to turn the radio down as this explosion came on full blast in all 18 speaks, but had no control. We had to leave the vehicle and wait. Once it stopped and we reentered the vehicle, it smelled like something was burning. There has to be something wrong with the B & O amplifier in these vehicles. I have read a number of other complaints, so I know we are not alone. One person drove it to the dealer and the service manager heard it and said it had to be an amplifier problem. …

Started the truck and there was a loud pop followed by every speaker in the truck blasting an ear-splitting machine-gun like sound. The volume and audio power controls had no effect. Shutting down the truck and opening the door stopped it, but it immediately start again when the truck was started. After several restarts, I hit the F-150 forums and found that pulling fuse 28 from the passenger footwell would stop it so I could drive the truck home. The next day I put the fuse back in and the issue has not reoccurred. I took the truck into the dealer at the next appointment and they were not able to reproduce the issue or find any codes (they listened to music at various volumes and channels for 20 minutes trying to reproduce it, even though I told them I had driven 25 hours since then without it happening). …

This has happened to me 3 times now. When I start the truck, a loud pop can be heard and then an extremely loud static noise starts throughout the entire truck. All speakers produce loud static and popping sounds. I took this to the dealer and while happening and the dealer had "no idea" what to do. The only remedy I've been given is to disconnect the battery for 5 minutes and reconnect. This makes the awful sound stop. This happened while drive and almost caused me to crash twice. There is talks of this on forums happening to other truck owners with the BO Unleashed sound system. Ford, NHTSA please create a TSB and figure this issue out. It affects my hearing every time the static and popping starts. Forums have said the Digital Sound Processor is a part of the problem when streaming with Apple car play or android auto. I spent $70K on this truck and am tired of this happening. …

Stereo/Infotainment system loud bang followed by increasingly loud static through the speakers. Occured 20 or so seconds after starting the truck and driving down the road. Happened around 2800 miles and has only happened once. Initial bang was startling and the static noise was distracting which could have caused an accident. Volume button non functional. Stopping and shutting vehicle completely off and on momentarily did nothing. After letting the truck sit off and locked for 5min+ the sound finally stopped and everything returned to normal. There was a distinct burning smell left in the truck for the rest of the day. Ears were left ringing for a couple hours after. Possible ear damage from this. Luckily there wasn't anyone else in the vehicle that could have suffered from ear damage. …

Started truck then we heard a loud pop, similar to a gun shot. Then we heard crackling through the speakers. Audio volume controls were ineffective as well as radio on/off controls. Turned truck off and restarted no pop this time but the crackling continued. I called my local Ford dealer to schedule a service appointment for the next afternoon. Then next day when I was driving the truck to work the crackling continued for several minutes then the sound system went back to normal. That afternoon, 12/4 after work I drove the truck to the dealer I had purchased the truck from to drop it off. I reported the situation to the service advisor and he said since the sound system does not throw codes it would not be able to be diagnosed unless the problem duplicated itself which I would have to leave the truck for an extend period of time.

2022 Ford F-150 tremor owner with B&O Unleashed sound system. Yesterday 8/22/2023 when starting my truck I experienced a loud big boom followed by loud static and popping sounds which was varying in pinch and level for all speakers. I could not turn off the audio or turn down the audio. I turned off the truck and it continued to make the same noises for some time before stopping on its own. I had to drive for over 30 minutes with this going on in order to get home. I eventually got back into the truck later on and started the truck with the issue resolved and back to normal operations for now. I have also had multiple issues since the purchase of the truck in July 2022 of when attempting to roll up my automatic windows and they keep reopening on there own. Sometimes it takes two or three tries to keep the window up.
