[redacted], I bought a new Ford Expedition Max Platinum. Four days after I bought the Ford Expedition Max, I experienced brake failure and all warning lights going off on the Ford. I was unable to brake correctly and almost causing a wreck on [redacted] in Charlottesville, VA. I called the Ford Dealership, (Myers Ford) in Elkton where I bought the Ford and they sent me a message saying there was an open recall that would be coming out but not till Q3 due to no fixes as of yet. I told them I didn't trust the car and what was I supposed to do. They sent me a text with a fix and said Ford told them it would be safe to drive. I had to follow the instructions on the message from Ford and the car was back up and running. …

2025 Expedition · Jun 2025 · crash

This was a rental vehicle hybrid, while driving on a highway, the vehicle first developed a flat tire. Afterward, while the vehicle was in motion, smoke appeared and the vehicle caught fire spontaneously. There was no collision or impact of any kind. The driver pulled over and all passengers exited safely. The fire spread very rapidly and it's a total loss. The fire department responded and extinguished the fire. The fire appears to have originated in the hybrid battery area. The were no warnings. Safety risk: the fire occurred while vehicle was moving on a public highway with occupants inside, and spread very quickly after stopping. The Highway Patrol attended the scene and a police report was filled, incident documented. I'm reporting this as a serious safety concern.

Hurricane Helene inundated our parking lot on September 27 with approximately 3-4 feet of storm surge. Many vehicles (20-25) were trapped and flooded. This vehicle caught fire and was totally consumed over the course of a 5-6 hour burn. Although all vehicles in our lot were flooded, this was the only vehicle to catch fire. By reports of eyewitnesses, the fire started underwater at the front of the vehicle and proceeded to consume it entirely. It did not blow up. Also reported is that the flashers and alarm/horn were active when the fire started (same was true for most other vehicles in the lot that did not burn). This vehicle is not a Hybrid or EV, it is a stock gasoline vehicle with no modifications. The vehicle was towed away by Auto-Owners Insurance company. It is unknown if they have done any form of inspection or investigation. …
