The contact owns a 2018 Ford Edge. The contact stated that after refueling the vehicle, while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle stalled three times after starting. The contact stated that the failure occurred daily. The contact stated that the battery charging warning light was illuminated. The dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to Auto Zone to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the canister purge valve needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the part to repair the vehicle was unavailable. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V735000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. …
The contact owns a 2018 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving 30 MPH, the vehicle stalled while approaching a stop light. The vehicle continued to stall when it came to a stop. The check engine light came on while the vehicle was being driven during a vacation. This happened after the vehicle had a maintenance-required tune-up performed by the dealership on May 19, 2026. The vehicle was not having performance issues at the time, but I did not want to drive home with the check engine light on. The very next business day, I took the vehicle to the dealership for inspection. The dealership advised me that the vehicle had coolant intrusion involving cylinder 4 and that the engine would need to be replaced. Because this was a serious diagnosis, I then took the vehicle to another reputable automotive repair shop for a second opinion. That shop also advised that the engine needed to be replaced due to the coolant intrusion issue. …
I have barely had my car now for 2 years and have had nothing but problems with it since the day I bought it it spends more time in the shop then any other vehicle I've owned! I've had to relaxed the coils 8 times now in the past year 5 of them in the past 5 months! The coolant continues to leak into the fuel system calling it an COOLANT INTRUSION which is causing havoc on my cold my engine my catalic converter to get extremely hot and causing my coils to burn and melt leaving me stranded alone on dark freeways costing me hundreds now thousands from having to have it towed to time in the shop parts and labour not to mention countless hours and days missed off work unable to get there or being late already lost one job and on the verge of losing another! The lady 2 coils that I had to replace weren't lasting more than a week to a few days! …
The vehicle experienced engine failure due to coolant intrusion into the engine cylinders. The issue presented with engine misfire, including diagnostic trouble code P0302, rough running, and coolant entering the combustion chamber. The condition was confirmed by a dealership, which determined that the engine has internal damage and requires full engine replacement. There were no external coolant leaks observed. This failure occurred at approximately 88,000 miles and was not consistent with normal wear and tear. The issue developed without significant prior warning other than engine misfire and rough operation. This condition may create a safety risk, as engine misfire and internal damage can lead to loss of power, reduced vehicle performance, or potential engine stall while driving. …
The problem began in early August 2025 when the check engine light came on and the vehicle misfired. A Ford mobile technician inspected it before 8/23/25, confirmed Diagnostic Code P0303 (Cylinder 3 Misfire), but said it was likely just a bad ignition coil. Based on that, I went to Midas on 8/23/25 for a tune-up and coil check. On 9/29/25, the check engine light returned and for the first time the coolant over-temperature warning illuminated. Midas confirmed coolant intrusion into Cylinder 3: borescope and pressure test showed leakage, leak-down test failed with air entering the coolant reservoir, and visible coolant loss was present. At 80,445 miles, the engine was deemed unsafe and required full replacement. Hawk Ford confirmed no warranty extensions or programs applied. The repair cost was $10,500 out of pocket. …
Last July my check engine light came on giving us a P0302 code. We had the spark plugs changed. It went away for a week then came back on with the same code. We had the coil packs changed. Same thing. Went away for a week then returned. Now dealership is saying they want $9,000+ to replace time engine for an issue that has been known to Ford since 2010 with this engine.with less than 70,000 miles on it, white smoke is pouring out of my car, the engine is overheating and coolant is leaking. I'm told that this can cause a fire or worse, a wreck. I have children that I transport daily in this vehicle seeing how it's our only means of transportation and we dont have the money to replace the engine much less buy a replacement vehicle. Ford needs to be held accountable for selling these faulty cars, putting families in danger and fix these issues NOW!!! …
My 2018 Ford Edge is equiped with Ecoboost engine and as a result all these problems are occurring: Ford failed to disclose that these vehicles have a defect that causes coolant to leak into the engine's cylinders, which can cause corrosion, oil dilution and contamination, and engine failure; and failed to disclose these defects create a safety risk, because the lack of coolant created by the leaks causes overheating and can result in the cylinder head cracking, total engine failure, and/or engine fires. Ford dealers have stated that I need a new engine.
While driving at normal speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to AutoZone where a diagnostic test was performed and produced code:P0456 indicating (EVAP System fault). Additionally, the vehicle was previously repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure and I contact was informed that the VIN was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 63,000.
