The passenger side seatbelt retractor broke, will not release seat belt at all. I am aware that NHTSA did testing in this particular year and model, and some are covered and some are not included in the recall, to be determined by the last 8 digits of the vin #. I wish to dispute that my particular vehicle SHOULD be included in the recall. I can prove it is broken, a manufacturing defect. This is a MAJOR safety concern. I wish for an exception to the validity on the testing that was done on your end, which was found to only be an issue on certain "batches". Apparently, this is a defect and should be repaired as soon as possible and I should not be charged. I can no longer drive this vehicle as long as I have a person in the passenger side. …
Defect pertains to the front driver seatbelt assembly. The overmold of the seatbelt pillar loop has cracked causing part deformation that pinches the webbing. Webbing is able to be extracted from the seatbelt retractor assembly, but, to some extent has retraction issues. This was an issue on the front passenger seatbelt assembly several years ago, and was replaced by the dealership. It has now occurred on the driver side seatbelt assembly. I am concerned that this problem could lead to poor coupling of an occupant to the vehicle who is buckled in a position with this defect and unaware. If an occupant leans forward in their seat, a significant amount of webbing slack can be left in the system leading to a poor webbing path over the occupant torso, and/or poor coupling between the upper torso of the occupant and the belt / vehicle. …
A passenger seated in the third row drivers side seat extended the seatbelt to fasten. Once we were in transit, the passenger leaned forward, causing the belt to extend. When they leaned back into seat, the belt did not retract. Upon trying to get the retraction to engage, the seatbelt became fully extended and would not retract, putting passenger safety at risk. We were able to stop the vehicle without further incident to address. Upon inspection, it appears that part of the mechanism behind the interior panel is broken. We were able to move the passenger to the other rear seat position since the vehicle was one seat short of being at passenger capacity. We will have the belt evaluated by the dealership upon returning from our travels. …
The driver's seatbelt will not retract. Should I get into an accident or need to slam on my brakes, by seatbelt will not lock in place as it should. Due to this malfunction. This is a serious safety issue! Seatbelts are suppose to save lives, but how can it, if it's not working properly?!?!? I contacted Chrysler/Dodge regarding this, they told me there was no recall. Which is shocking, since there have been other complaints regarding the same issue. I was told to have it diagnosed by a car dealership then it would be fixed. Not sure if I would be reimbursed for the cost of repairs or how that's suppose to work. But are they also going to pay for my lost day of work wages, to take it into the repair shop?! Then to take it back for the repairs? I highly doubt that. I believe something this concerning should've already been deemed a safety recall.
I have a 2014 Dodge Durango. The driver side seat belt will no longer retract. I took vehicle to the nearest dealership, and they said a repair would not be covered under warranty and quoted me at $375.00 for a $50 part and the rest being labor for about 1.5 hours of work. I asked about any warranty since it was a safety issue but they said it was not covered. I am really disappointed to hear that the seat belt retraction not working and therefore causing the seatbelt to no function properly is not a safety concern for dodge. I got home and started doing research and can see that there have been numerous complaints about this same issue: [redacted] and a related recall: [redacted]
Head rest deployed outside of "extended warranty " its a safety hazard. This part should be total recalled. The rear passenger door latch gets stuck or pops open randomly. It will not close when this happens and it has come open upon locking and driving! Again dangerous where children sit. This is with child lock on or off the problem continues. The third complaint is the seat belts will not retract in the front seat but the dealership requires me to pay a fee to have it assessed. This is a "recalled"issue but it isn't for my vin These three things seem to all fall shortly after buying the vehicle within the last four yrs. Exact dates unknown.
We had problems with the driver seat belt we had dealership look at it and there were no recalls. We had it replaced . NOW the passenger seatbelt will not retract - there should be recalls for my vehicle as I have seen where other Dodge Durango's had recalls for the same issue. I cannot transport anyone in my passenger seat until it is fixed. Highly disappointed - we have a Dodge Durango - Chrysler Van and Dodge Ram - we give our business to these brands and the seatbelts are not under recall when they are failing to restrain people. This should be covered under recall!
