I think that's it's appalling that the NHTSA cannot put more pressure on Chrysler to figure out a faster way to fix this deadly defect that is killing people. How long am I expected to wait for this repair? What liability does Chrysler have if I get into an accident and am injured by shrapnel from the air bag igniter. I thought that the NHTSA is there to protect the public. The mission of the NHTSA is to "Save lives, prevent injuries and reduce economic costs due to road traffic crashes, through education, research, safety standards and enforcement activity." I believe that you and Chrysler have both failed.

UNKNOWN. My door panels on all doors, aside from the drivers door are all warping away from the windows. It has gotten so bad that my doors will not lock every time. I have done a lot of research and apparently this is a safety issue b/c airbags have deployed unexpectedly, or have not deployed during accidents causing harm. The fact that I am a single, female, traveling nurse and my doors will not lock at times is definitely NOT ok. I took it to a shop when I had to get a scrape fixed and asked about the door panels. They were the ones to tell me that this is such a huge problem with my make and model of car that they never are able to get parts in for months at a time, and even when they do it is the same parts that I have and people always come back with the same problem. …

Desiccated Air Bag Inflator Rupture
From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited.
