Dt*: the contact stated the gas tank leaked slightly and smoked. There is a NHTSA recall, # 96V234000, regarding the tank assembly. The vehicle has the same problems as indicated in the recall; however it is not included in the recall due to the VIN. In addition, during a smoking episode the emergency brake was applied, but did not hold causing the vehicle to roll back into a tree. The vehicle was towed to an independent repair shop where it is awaiting repair.
Tl contact owns a 1995 Chevrolet Blazer. While driving 63 MPH, the fuel injector stopped working and the engine began to stall. There were no warning indicators before the failure occurred. There was a loss of power steering and the engine eventually shut off when the contact pulled to the side of the road. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and drive it to the mechanic. The weather was not a factor. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign id number 06e041000 (fuel system, gasoline:delivery:hoses, lines/piping, and fittings). The mechanic stated that the fuel injection valve failed and the vehicle was repaired with the new parts. The incident occurred again several months later. The contact received an invoice. The current mileage was 219,000 and failure mileage was 206,000.
Tl contact owns a 1995 Chevrolet Blazer. While driving approximately 25-35 MPH, the engine stopped running without warning. There were no warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The engine failed to restart after several attempts. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The vehicle was inspected by a relative, who stated that the failure was related to the fuel pump. The contact called the dealer and was advised to remove the fuel pump from the vehicle and take it to an authorized dealer for repair. The vehicle is currently inoperable until the component is repaired. The failure and current mileages were 142,303.
4 EGR valves (and I have got to put the 5th one on now) in the last 3 years $200.00 each. 2 cmfi units because of the fuel pressure regulator leaking the whole unit has to be replaced $500.00 each. Fuel pumps $80.00 each transmission has slipped at different times. Cooling is a problem it has never overheated but it would like to in the summer. I am a mechanic and all of my cars are taken care of to the slightest detail but it is not normal to replace this stuff more than a couple of times in the life of a car much less a couple of times a year.
While driving vehicle just shut down compeletly. After owner took fuel tank down, he found wiring harness inside fuel tank sending unit were getting hot and melted the insulation off the wires, and burned the plug. This could cause an explosion. All fuses and relays were found to be correct and operating. Part to correct this problem has been ordered. Owner called GMC, and GMC told owner to call NHTSA.

Consumer complained about a fuel injection system problem. Consumer took the vehicle to the dealer and received many different stories of remedy. Consumer asked the dealer to check the fuel tank, and the dealer refused to check it. Then, consumer contacted the manufacturer, and was told by the manufacturer that dealerships were independently owned, and there was nothing they could do.
Cfi injector unit has gone bad twice, at 58800 miles and again 18 months later, Chevy dealer admits is a common problem. Can only get replacement part from GM at $500 a piece. Part leaks fuel and engine will not start. Why hasn't this been a recall? It is a very profitable situation for Chevrolet. ******dimsii ivoq entry posted after 12/12/02 cut-over to artemis****739786***
Occasional smell of gasoline within the passenger compartment area, usually when max A/C is engaged. Smell goes away prior to having checked by dealer. Dealer advise that it can't be checked if it doesn't smell when brought to dealership. Occurs several times a year since purchase.
Dt*: the consumer stated the fuel tank is leaking. There is a NHTSA recall # 96V234000, regarding the tank assembly. The consumer experienced the same problem as indicated in the recall. The vehicle identification number was not included in the recall.
